See, the big difference about Doom farming and Alchemist farming is that the latter is the sort of boring farmfest people don't like, whereas the former will still be involved with his team. Doom's ability to remove a single target from meaningful contribution from a fight means he won't be afk farming.

I've actually never seen a single WR rushing Aghs nor a WR with Aghs at all. Is that some kind of a region or MMR bracket thingy?

I dunno, it depends on the draft, her farm, and how things are going for her team in general.

Seriously? Nowadays, WR is in like 60% of my games and Aghs is almost always her first item; sometimes she gets a blink or something first.

As for farmfest: eh, Alchemist CAN contribute to teamfights immensely with his hella long AOE stun and good DoT and damage reduction. The problem is in the current meta, Alchemist is simply more effective going for farming items and then getting 6-slotted as quickly as possible. I find the best way to counter him is to simply play super aggressively and shut him down before he can get any items.

Is it just me, or is picking a hard carry (spectre, antimage, that kind of thing) in an unranked pub the kiss of death for your team?

Depending on the level of ability it might not be the smartest thing to do. Those guys need lots of farm after all. If you're good at farming then you'd probably be pretty decent at them and conversely, if you suck at farming then you'll probably have a hard time.

Unless you're doing some badass build like blink dagon Antimage.

Always spam "need wards" or "call missing" in chat on every death.

I feel that's the big problem with him.  Either your team pays the ward tax or it loses, and that choice arises as soon as he's in the match.   Its just a massive noob trap.

Its not really like other carries where you go out of the way to gank them or something to stop them.  Its just "did you spend x gold for these items" and rikki is done for.

Pubbies tend to be bad at that anyway. I managed to necro ancient in 10v10 once back when that was possible. 10v10. Not a single person bothered to come try to kill me in the meantime. The modified XP and gold gains in 10v10 made it actually worth it, too, it was hilarious.

So, I'm just learning and I stick to unranked pick all while I learn the ropes.  Usually one other person calls role.  My experience is that if I don't hard support, no one does and we lose.  Plus its kinda fun.  What I really want to do tho is beefy strength heroes like Earthshaker and Undying in a position 4 support or offlane role.

Anyway, someone calls roaming techies on the loading screen and I see my opportunity.  This is my time.  I call offlane Centaur Warrunner.  As it turns out, the first game in a while I don't hard support is also the first game ever that I buy a rapier.
