I've been playing for 2 days. Still a very expert in all things noob related.
Having some experience in LoL made me learn things a bit faster though.
I'd like to ask you folks, how is the community 'feeling' in DOTA?
Example and Explanation: I needed 150 points to buy a champ I've wanted to test for months in LoL (and I haven't played it in 1 or 2 years), so I went there to play a quick bot match so I can get it and finally check it out.
Result: Got called names and sweared on because I was playing mid and I was ganking (in other words, just doing what I was supposed to do).
I constantly get this kind of attitude in both Bot or PVP matches on LoL - reading all kinds of offensive and BS stuff for no understandable reason - and that's why I left it.
I either play with friends and fully ignore the chat, or don't play it at all.
Note: I do play on Brazilian servers on LoL though, so this might be totally diferent for other regions. Or not. And maybe my Ranking/ELO was always low or something.
In comparison, my 2 days on DOTA went completely smooth. I ended up getting matchmaked with people that had 1500 games on their profile, and even then by completely screwing up and being forced to farm like it was some MMO, I had very cool team members. Only one dude got really mad at me, but still he didn't say anything offensive.
And the game made me play on US, South America and Europe servers.
I noticed that people use text a lot less (unless teamfights are getting insane), but mysteriously people ragequit more constantly than on LoL.
On LoL, people tend to type so much it costs whole games, CONSTANTLY.
I ask this because even though I'm not such a big fan of MOBAs because they seem to turn us into very angry men, they have strategic, tactical and psychological aspects that I find really fun to fool around with. And I'm kind of trying to find one I can recommend to friends, without having to say "Hey, let's play this game. But, ehh..don't use the chat" or something like that.
And hopefully I'm not planting some flame seed here, it's not my intention. I enjoy both games, but the community aspect can make me feel homicidal, which is never a good thing
