I'm sorry for you for having to play Low Priority! I once had to play 3 low priority matches (well, *I* didn't have to, but a friend who got them after he abandoned due to his internet suddenly turning off and I wanted to play with him) and it was freaking hell. We actually played 5 or 6 matches, because of all the early abandons and whatnot so they didn't count and the matches werent fun at all either.

Kinda upset about my last game. Mode was CD, I was captain, and I outdrafted the other team. But the Jakiro on my team was really horrible early game (well all game, he built a 40 min shadow blade) and it cost us the match =S

I've been playing for 2 days. Still a very expert in all things noob related.
Having some experience in LoL made me learn things a bit faster though.

I'd like to ask you folks, how is the community 'feeling' in DOTA?

Example and Explanation: I needed 150 points to buy a champ I've wanted to test for months in LoL (and I haven't played it in 1 or 2 years), so I went there to play a quick bot match so I can get it and finally check it out.
Result: Got called names and sweared on because I was playing mid and I was ganking (in other words, just doing what I was supposed to do).
I constantly get this kind of attitude in both Bot or PVP matches on LoL - reading all kinds of offensive and BS stuff for no understandable reason - and that's why I left it.
I either play with friends and fully ignore the chat, or don't play it at all.
Note: I do play on Brazilian servers on LoL though, so this might be totally diferent for other regions. Or not. And maybe my Ranking/ELO was always low or something.

In comparison, my 2 days on DOTA went completely smooth. I ended up getting matchmaked with people that had 1500 games on their profile, and even then by completely screwing up and being forced to farm like it was some MMO, I had very cool team members. Only one dude got really mad at me, but still he didn't say anything offensive.
And the game made me play on US, South America and Europe servers.

I noticed that people use text a lot less (unless teamfights are getting insane), but mysteriously people ragequit more constantly than on LoL.
On LoL, people tend to type so much it costs whole games, CONSTANTLY.

I ask this because even though I'm not such a big fan of MOBAs because they seem to turn us into very angry men, they have strategic, tactical and psychological aspects that I find really fun to fool around with. And I'm kind of trying to find one I can recommend to friends, without having to say "Hey, let's play this game. But, ehh..don't use the chat" or something like that.

And hopefully I'm not planting some flame seed here, it's not my intention. I enjoy both games, but the community aspect can make me feel homicidal, which is never a good thing  :P

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.

Any first experiences in either game with the community will be all over the damn place. On average, you'll probably have a better time in Dota IF you're under 3k MMR. Once you're around there, AFAIK, people start thinking they're... good at the game, at which point you're going to have a shitty time most of the time.

I'm at 1.8k, where you only have a shitty time about 50% of the time.

I would recommend Dota 2 to friends because... riot's business practices make me froth at the mouth and, while valve recently shat in my house, at least they cleaned up and apologized for it. My beef with Riot is less personal, but I still don't appreciate it when people burn down a forum and set up an advertisement for theirs in its place (wow that analogy was terrible and too literal) and only say "fuck you too" when called out.

But also because Dota 2 has way better learning tools, like in-game guides.

I don't even recognize the game any more. And that Alchemist buff is ridiculous.

More focus on killing, more clutch type of targeted support stuff, in other words an effort to push it to be more spectator fun.

Alchemist can now cast Aghanim's Scepter to directly grant any allied hero all Aghanim's Scepter bonuses as a buff (the hero upgrade and the stat upgrade). The scepter is consumed in the process. Multiple instances of this buff do not stack. Alchemist can target himself as well
Holy shit.

The Legion Commander duel upgrade is hilarious though, as is Babushka Doll Lifestealer.

I also find the moonstone ability to turn the item into a buff at 50% power pretty hilarious too. Also that battle fury +60% damage against creeps combined with kunkka :P, or going agahaim tusk so you can port behind someone, punch them into the air, and then kick them back to your team, or that Techies agahaims sign XD.

  • I like the ward changes. No more crippling myself early because teammates expect me to buy both courier and wards and no more running out of slots when dewarding. Looking forward to chomp a few too, nom nom nom.
  • Thinking Octarine NP will be intense as hell.
  • Castable spell blade mail, AoC upgrade and ranged Vlads will be interesting for some of my supports(Venge, particularly).
  • Wraith King more annoying than ever with the new aghs.
  • The rubberband is dead, long live the socialist bounty revolution comrades!

ps.: just noticed we're on page 84
