Better with 'em than against 'em I suppose.
... what about a five on five techies mirror match, though?

Or is that one of those moments where the only winning move is to not play?
This is a good idea :D

For me it's the same, although I get bad ping on US servers :).

I've got DOTA open, let me know if you want an invite and aren't already in the bay12 clan. Here's my steam ID if you need to add me.

Last night I had a dream that involved EG.Universe, mostly because two of the most interesting things that I saw yesterday were his twitter and the fact that he has more than a 90% win rate as Faceless Void in pro games (whose average win rate is less than 50%).

EDIT: Also, it turns out that 3.2k MMR (which IIRC is about where "high skill" on Dotabuff is) isn't actually that different from 1.8k, the main difference being that people know not to spend all their time autoattacking creeps.

Still noticeably better than me, heh, but it's mostly me and maybe particularly flamy people noticing.

There's that, yeah. The main thing I've noticed when playing with some of my meatspace friends (who are between 1.5k and 2k for the most part) is not knowing when to run away or when to stick around even when you're low. Sometimes they just don't look at the minimap when a gank is clearly incoming, and don't try to run until the gankers are already in stun range. Or they'll chase for the last hit on a hero despite having 200hp left, not seeing the enemy heroes running in to save them. I think it just takes a lot of games to know when you're in danger of dying or not.

Ah, ok, I can see why however isn't rubick one of the higher skill ceiling heroes? Kind of a rhetorical question, Rubick is one of the higher skill ones since you almost need to know what everyone else's abilities do to make him successful.

My greatest play ever is probably Rubick; saw Death Prophet use her ghosts, force staffed into steal range, stole, immediately used, started kiting a couple of the enemy heroes (Timbersaw and OD, IIRC) to have them get damaged by the ghosts, OD used his disruption-type thing on me and they both stood right next to me and died due to the fact that neither noticed that I had ghosts (DP was still nearby).

Rubick's skill ceiling is more about positioning; you need to be in range to use your ult. Knowing what abilities do is more of a knowledge issue, and you could always click on your opponent to see their abilities.

Playing rubick on pubs is always a fun experience because you can usey our telekinesis to throw people on cliff tops and camp the place for when they make their  courier bring tele scroll, kill the courier and then, as they channel the teleport, use telekinesis again to interrupt it :P

Anyway, I just realized I never played a ranked match :o , time to start this weekend, I guess. My midweek dota time was sort of obliterated by my carreer,

I'm pretty sure they fixed the cliff thing. Pissed people off.
