Interesting...spiked carapace from nyx does not reflect or even negate the damage. Blade mail also does nothing to return the damage. Besides that, I think techies came pre-nerfed since the reduced damage the farther away from the explosion.

Does bladefury trigger mines?

Yes. All enemy units except wards, flying and invulnerable units will trigger Land Mines.

Here's a detailed Reddit post about it: http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/2fi7bm/techies_advanced_mechanics/

By the way, you can put a land mine behind the enemy's mid tier 2 and the walking courier will trigger it (and subsequently die).

That's a dick move. Amazing.

I'm going to speculate that many of the games involving Goblin Techies have ended up much like this one:

http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/874879971

The Goblin Techies' player quits after a few minutes of game-play.

I've only played one match with Techies in it so I don't have too much to judge by so far.

So I just played an hour-long ARDM game. I think that's kind of odd.

I had the opposite experience, the techies more or less went support, went into lane with me as sladar, they mined the secret shop, entrance from lane to jungle, entrance from river to jungle each with 6 mines before timbersaw finally stepped onto a set and instantly died. That started the fear and was compounded since techies started roaming and started 1 shotting both drow and io with suicide or a cluster of mines which lead to the enemies not wanting to leave base despite having such a large initial lead. In the time I was able to get enough farm to be tankey enough I didn't care about any of the enemy team.

It should also be noted that techies can get level 2 at 40 seconds after the horn by setting mines outside of the hard camp then pulling it onto the mines as soon as it spawns. Trying to continue to jungle after that and before level 6 is far too slow to be useful.

I should try building MoM, Power Treads and 4 Eul's on Void. Vroom vroom.

Anyone got stupid builds that might work at 1.8k MMR? I imagine that I could win (not always, but still, heh) in the current patch with Razor and Void regardless of what I build, so might as well.

Eul's and daggon on sniper. Gives you more mana to spam your ult on whoever you see. Use daggon then euls on anyone who gets close while you run away. For extra fun drop a ward and snipe them after they land. Blink dagger and force staff would also be useful for this.

I believe ARDM is bugged right now. If you're one of those that is left with no lives left watching the remaining players battle, you can actually get stuck with an abandon.

Not sure if it's been fixed.

Edit: By the way, the bots now say some... fun stuff during games. They are also equipped with your cosmetics.

Techies are evil. You don't see him for most of the game, then you leave your base and he oneshots you by stacking charges. Seriously, 2k hp, gone in an instant :C

Fucking little bastard didn't even have aghs at the time :C

I think I'll stick to Ability Draft games for a while, that way I don't have to see how many people have no clue on how to play Techies.

He definitely doesn't play like a typical hero, and some people forget that. He either tends toward doing one of two things: poking a lane to the point of frustration, where they give up (which is a win, more or less), or strategically planning, ganking and plotting every possible avenue of attack, escape, and battleground, making the enemy so paranoid about moving around that they lose opportunities to win with their caution.

He will be a devious pub stomper, since most people forget gems and truesight wards are a thing. And then, you simply leave the gem where it was, hoping someone from the enemy team will be silly enough to tread in an obvious trap.

Back when items still worked if they were picked up by the enemy team, it was fun to leave a tango or a branch in a minefield, to see who was stupid enough to pick it up. Now, gem seems the only possibility for that sort of !fun!.

You can use your sign to do the same thing. Since everyone knew what a branch / tango / potion on the ground meant in a techies game; the sign does the same thing.

For example, you could put a sign about 150 units behind your mines. So when a hapless enemy support goes to deward it. BOOM! Or you can just leave your sign in random places and make them waste detection.
