Haha, at my MMR people don't know that, all they know is "I've gotta kill enemies cuz you get gold that way". I had an Anti-Mage who died repeatedly cause he went into teamfights all the time instead of getting his battlefury and flashfarming jungle for half the game like he should have. Our Axe (who actually did spend about a quarter of the game farming lane) probably would have complained about that, though. Maybe I should have played carry Omniknight that game, since so much farm was going to waste...

I should try going Tinker or Meepo mid more often. People have no goddamn idea how to fight Meepo and Tinker... well, stealing farm from people who don't know how to isn't too much of a problem. Seriously, I had a Meepo in the aforementioned game on the enemy team and for some reason every single time we fought him he ended up with all of his Meepos having consistently the same health. I probably shoulda gone arcane boots/force staff/mek instead of arcane boots/mek/force staff there...

It's not too hard to micro him. Every single clone has the same abilities. It's just TAB > skill > TAB > skill > TAB > skill > etc.

I actually think Chen is harder as all the creeps are different and they keep changing. Not to mention Chen is a really crappy duelist, unlike Meepo, and he can't right click someone down if he's feeling bored.

I really wish I had the micro to play Meepo. He's terrifying when played well.

Control groups, quick-cast, tab. Keep poof on quick cast so you can 1-w-2-w-4-w-5-w or whatever combination of meepos you have outside of your base at the moment. If you're feeling cautious, you can always keep one Meepo in the fountain to escape to with Poof. Jungling is easy enough; a-click with 1-3 Meepos into a jungle camp, wait until you hear the "hero's getting hit" sound, double tap one of the Meepo's control group, poof all of 'em to farm the camp immediately. Boots of travel is actually really good as Meepo, as each Meepo has a separate cooldown on the boots. You can also flash farm lanes by poofing 2-3 Meepos. You should be level 25 real quick. I can't do it cause my micro's not quite up to snuff and there's more to it than just this (Merlini has a video on it).

I don't know, I got Chen with a Bloodstone, Treads and not much else in ARDM (Item builds are tough when you're getting random-ass heroes all the time) and he duels pretty well, though yeah, micro is important, but that was all 3-tornado-click-follow-enemy-2-auto-attack-enemy-1-test-of-faith-enemy-2-centaur-stomp-1-auto-attack, which isn't too much to deal with.

God damn, I'm having a terrible time.  I would just go back to league but my main league friend only played jungle warwick and quit when teambuilder got put up to 25.

I'm just having a terrible time with it now though.  I guess I probably just need more practice, but it's like holding a belt sander to my face in the hopes that my face will grow back stronger.  I don't remember league being this shitty to learn.

I do remember that when I played Dota the first time I probably played 50 games or so of nothing but bots before I ever touched the real thing.  And Diretide had just started so I probably played another 50 games of Diretide.  Maybe my mechanics are rusty.

Yeah, the mechanics are a hard thing to learn.  There's a lot of tiny little things you need to remember of each character and how it interacts with others.  Positioning is a lot harder, too.  Don't beat yourself up, it'll all come back to you eventually.  If you're really into it, you can always watch a couple of fun pro-streams.  Just watching what they do and imitating it is surprisingly effective at getting somewhere.

I've never tried stealing chronosphere as Rubick, but man is it funny when people do. It's like a free refresher orb for Void! (Only Faceless Void is able to move during Chronosphere, even if Rubick steals it).

Actually, I considered the idea and didn't really figure it out today; if Zeus uses his ult twice with Refresher Orb, does someone under Smoke of Deceit get hit the second time around like someone using Shadow Amulet/Shadow Blade/Riki/Meld/other such ordinary invisibilities?

Rubick can move during the Chrono he steals, Void can also move in it.

If an enemy is revealed, they will take damage from a Zeus ultimate (so yes, refresher will hit invisible units if cast fast enough).

It should work.  Zeus' ult reveals them for a small amount of time after it strikes them, including invisible units that it doesn't damage.  If they're still visible by the time you hit them with the second strike they should take the damage of the second ult.  This includes all kinds of invisibility including Lothar's to Riki's.

Mechanics in DotA are pretty silly when you get down to it.

EDIT: Just so I'm not making an ass out of myself with incorrect information, I'm testing it with a friend really quick.

DOUBLEEDIT:  Yep, just did it.  Zapped a Riki, saw the Riki, zapped again, Riki takes damage the second time.

Alright, went and tested those.  Smoke is baller and isn't broken by anything other than proximity.  You can indeed hide from a Refresher Zeus with it.  Slark's ultimate isn't revealed by anything other than Void Chrono (and sentries, to both of them I suppose), meaning that no you do not reveal and the damage isn't done.  A unique effect about the both of them however is that you get their vision on the minimap, so if you somehow timed it to where one of them passed a sentry that didn't have a ward, you could zap them the second time.

Every other type of invisibility is a wimp though, refresh Zap that all day.

EDIT: The only problem with the whole smoke dodgin' Zeus ult is the fact that you can only by three smokes, and they have a twelve minute cooldown on them, and a ninety second cooldown.  I wouldn't really depend on a smoke to keep me alive from a Zeus while running away.

Seriously, I'm the only person who buys dust against shadow blade stuff. It's kinda sad sometimes, actually heard a guy say he couldn't kill Drow because she has shadow blade, so I just followed him around until she used shadow blade and dusted and welp look at that she's deadish (had Aegis anyway).

Yeah, people don't even really use dust usefully until the 5k's, and even then it's pretty sparse unless they're all using voice chat.

Also, a really fun streamer has nicknamed shadow blade as the "invincibility blade," he puts as much emphasis as he can on the C, making it a cross between that and invisibility.  It's sad because his nickname usually holds weight during the games he starts calling it that.
