I'm wondering your guy's opinion about playing a support character as a semi carry if at the beginning of the game you get a lot of kills and money. I was playing with Windrunner yesterday and we got the first kill about twenty seconds after the first creep began. This was followed by a few more kills and general dominate of our lane. I decided to build an eye of skadi as my main item and was wondering if was worth it. On the plus side I became useful to my team, and no one could ever flee from us as well as being fairly health heavy (By the end of the game I somehow became the team tank) On the downside I didn't build a mek or anything like that. Is it ever worth it to do stuff like that?

If you've managed to acquire the gold from kills, as well as force your opponent out of lane for time spent dead, why not? Clearly, it was a winning strategy. When something like this happens, measure yourself as WINNING, and play to what's working. I'd start to fear late game consequences if you notice a definite shift in the enemy team's strat to counter what you're doing, but in a lot pub games with clearly random teams (no matching clan tags, etc.), they won't usually have enough team cohesion to do anything about it.

You were winning your lane. Made sum good kills, got sum golds. Bought itamz to facilitate more kills against lane opposition who were clearly at a disadvantage to you. It is important to note, if your team CLEARLY needs you to be playing support as support, DO IT. But in a situation like this, taking the early advantage and using it to put the hurt on could have been the deciding factor in that match.

On the topic of Veno, my god his wards are annoying now. Why did icefrog think letting them poison sting was a good idea?

Going carry is doubly valuable as Windrunner, who can be an acceptable semi-carry with Focus Fire. But honestly, anyone can semi-carry with enough of an early advantage. Who cares if CM can't carry past 30 minutes, if the game is won by 20?

I find Veno's wards to be either hilariously overpowered or nerfed depending on how the guy levels them up. The Veno I was playing against had them at level one for quite a while, and they just became a source of free gold, as they were a one/two hit kill and they give you 15-17 gold each time you kill one. If he just casually puts them up its more then enough to give you an advantage in gold.

Since it's still fresh in my mind, that first kill was amazingly funny. Me(Windrunner) and my Friend (Juggs) were playing against a ember spirt and a veno. I hit veno twice just normally and then my friend just dives in with his blade fury move. As he's doing this the Veno who was already a bit behind his creep line starts sprinting for the tower I manage to line up the shot and just as Juggs spin wears out and it looks like Veno will get away I manage to line up my power shot and I just manage to get him. It was marvelous

Hell to the yes! If your carry doesn't need babysitting (lane is uncontested / crushed / there is another support there) you go out there and gank faces! Playing "supports" is hugely combat oriented in early-mid game.
If you don't stack camps, you can devote all your play time to ganking.

A word of warning : if the ganks fail, you will find yourself to be very far behind in levels.

On the off chance this question will recieve an answer: Is there any way to modify the UI? Apart from aesthetically that is, just the layout.
Reason I'm asking is I've been having some troubles when giving quick move order and accidently clicking the minimap instead, being positioned in the bottom left corner as it is. I'm sure you can imagine the consequences.  :'(

There is a "dota_minimap_misclick_time" console command, but i havent really used it, it basically lets you pick the time you have to wait with your cursos avobe the map until it starts recieving "commands". Being a valve game you can porbably autoexec the command instead of consoleing it all the time, but i havent tryied it myseld. So try googling it and experiment with it.

EDIT: Aparently its implemented by default with a 0.2 (200ms) value. Again id recomend not rising it higher, just taking the time to adjust to the game.

Server settings, US West + english only.

Lost 6 games. Only one of them had someone who spoke English. Everyone else was Chinese, Russian, and Brazillian.

Right. Never doing it again.

Oh man. Necrophos (used to be Necrolite) has the most amazing voice. I think it's bugged, mind, but it makes him sound like satan or something.

Mhm yes know that feel. Have started playing on US east wich seems good enough as far communication goes. Not even trying to play on eu anymore, the servers are basicly russia west, russia east and mother russia. Why they can't stick to their designated server is beyond me.

Hey I was that Veno I'm fairly sure, I remember that power shot -.-
It was quite funny too as the Rubik on your team started spamming wards back at me.
My team won despite me doing quite poorly :D

Having lost a bet once, and being forced to play on a RU server once.. Their wait times are outrageous. It feels that there are very few servers in that wasteland, so the numerous mob has to zerg over civilized lands in order to even GET a game.

Love the changes to Veno and Dazzle.
Storm Spirit not looking like an obese creep, and Dazzle toning down on the mohawk is a change for the better.
