Shift-queuing is useful for illusions that you want to be sent down lane, naga siren, phantom lancer and terrorblade would make use of it.

Shift queuing:

1. When you pick up a rune, shift queue picking it up and then going somewhere else. That way you won't have that pick up delay. It's supremely useful if you're getting chased and you see something like a regen rune.

2. When you're Sand King you need to master shift-queuing. Either shift queue Epicenter into Burrow Strike or Epicenter into Blink. The reason for this is because it makes it so there's not a single second of delay on your ultimate hitting the enemy and also makes it so you can't accidentally cancel your ultimate by casting the second spell too early.

3. If you're going to tango a tree, shift-queue it followed by a movement command.

4. When TP-ing from base, shift queue your next movement position.

5. When attacking jungle creeps with a right click hero, shift-queue the creeps in the order you want to attack.

I just use control groups for ilusions and other multiple unit heroes like meepo, altough i mostly use tab + spell keys for meepo to do his combos.
Shift queuing is great for doing really quick actions that will need to take place once something happens, like a chanelling spell. Its really good with sand king ult + blink and blinking away in the exact moment brewmaster's ult runs out, altough it really takes some practice to use shift queue without panicking.

EDIT: o wait, I guess you cant shift queue blink dagger out of brewmaster's ult, considering you dont have access to your inventory while its active, derp. I just thought it was a good idea before I realized this.

You can also use shift queue to great effect using QoP, altough you really have to be careful if you're doing it with her ultimate, since it has a travel time.

I was wondering what would happen between a farmed Medusa and a farmed Phantom Lancer. The answer is Medusa can't do shit when PL illusions have evasion. She needs an MKB, but Medusa really hates getting it. So she has to gimp herself to even stand a chance. Even then she still can't leave the base as she has no way to stop the push from all three lanes. If she gets Manta, then the illusions don't get the benefit of her damage items so they will get wrecked.

Doesn't Medusa's ult pop illusions? Just press R and PL has to run.

Yeah, PL has to run for a few seconds, but give him a dozen more and the illusion army is back up, while Medusa's ult is on cooldown.

Also you'd have to be a pretty dumb Medusa to ulti a wave of illusions just to stop a split push.

I don't think illusions inherit evasion, just orbs and stats.

They do. It's pretty crazy these days as now Butterflies can stack.

Watch this match for proof: http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/912577666

The DK couldn't even kill one single PL illusion soloing him due to constant misses in the final few minutes. He actually had to run away from just the one.

SingSing also has a VOD where he sold all his items as Naga and bought 5 Butterflies. IIRC he was also against a Medusa.

Question, does evasion from items stack with evasion from abilities?

Stuff like PA or FV.

Multiplicatively, not additively, though.

So, is pugna a reasonable answer to heroes that rely on illusions? I mean, with a scepter, pugna can quicky R (which has no cooldown with the scepter) every illusion which causes them to pop instantly. Question is, can you do it quickly enough against PL for it to matter? I've done this against terrorblade and naga to significant effect in the past,  but I'm not sure if it would be incredibly useful agaisnt PL.

EDIT: prob not considering every cast has a significant mana cost, even with pugna's huge manapool.

I'd use nether blast to find the actual PL and then drain HP out of that.

I think I'm gonna stick to AP for now. Both of my draft games have been rather shit, solely because of the captain. First time off he was afk so we got random champs, they weren't terrible, but they were random.

Second time off the prick just did his own thing, completely disregarding any requests or suggestions. So I got stuck with Spectre, because nobody else wanted to play her since nobody said they wanted to play her. Now, I'm not the most terrible Spectre player, but if I called out five other champs that I'd be okay playing with it's really shitty that I have to play the one that I don't want to.
