Bloodstone on DP is something I've seen pro players get quite a bit as well, especially if the game is going late. It does make her tankier, which is always good for a hero that needs to be in the thick of things. The mana regen is nice, though sometimes a bit of overkill. The heal is nice, though generally not why you buy the item on its own. Coming back up slightly faster means you can use your ultimate to push again as soon as you come back, though if you get too many charges you'll be back up without an ultimate. There's no one aspect of the item that makes it a core item you'd get every game, but it's certainly decent later in the game.

Generally if DP is just trying to tank up and get mana, Shiva's seems to be the way to go. But Shiva's doesn't help much against magical burst damage, and bloodstone gives a lot of raw HP instead. Heart gives even more raw HP, but usually DP gets that first. The build seems to generally be:

Phase/arcanes -> Euls -> Platemail/Ghost Scepter -> an HP item like Atos, Heart, or Bloodstone -> finish Shivas/AC -> more HP items or get Scythe

BKB seems to be fairly rare but has its place on any hero.

I think bloodstone is picked as a teamfight safety measure. DP's ultimate can wreck whole teams and has a relatively low cooldown. If DP dies (or even better, suicides with bloodstone) and comes back quickly thanks to bloodstone, she can, most of the time, drop an ultimate in the enemy team with the help of a team mate with key CC abilities and stop a push by killing 1 or 2 heroes or even wipe an unprepared team. That said, a lot of people gimp their midgame by desperately trying to rush it even when they're not doing so well. An Eul's is a perfectly good and cheap buy for DP, boosting her already insane movespeed, giving much needed mana and mana regen and allowing her to cast her ultimate and then just send herself flying and watch her ghosts eat people up along with her team.

Rod of Atos is also a cheap and often overlooked item that works well with DP.

Why not go heaven's halberd then? Get the dodge chance in there while you're at it, plus more cc for the cc god.

Tinker's one of those heroes that pretty much needs Bloodstone if you want to be relevant for more than one combo. Since it also resets most items, you also have the potential to constantly be sending out Dagon and Guinsoo hits.

I'm sad it no longer works on Linken's though.

We were talking about bloodstone on DP, Astral. As for Tinker, I think it's good but definitely not necessary to repeat your combo. Scythe gives a lot of mana, and some have been experimenting with Shivas. Bloodstone is definitely good for sustained fights though.

(Also, as far as I know you can still rearm linkens and use it on your teammates.)

Though I realize that you were discussing the merits of Bloodstone on Death Prophet, I didn't see Tinker mentioned anywhere on the original list of "must haves" for it.

And Linken's not being refreshed was sadly done years ago, regardless of whether you cast it on another or not. If I remember correctly, it was changed before you could even cast it on allies. Necronomicon was patched not too long after. Some of the things you used to be able to do with Rearm were pretty dumb.

In some ways, Bloodstone took the place of Linken's for me on Tinker, since you get the beef, mana pool, and more returns on mana regeneration for ganking (and succeeding) rather than farming out your lanes and starving your carry or other allies.

Heart is a better item for Death Prophet than Bloodstone anyway.

I would say bloodstone is definitely NOT a must have on Tinker. It's something you need to get early if you intend to ever get the stacks from it to make it worthwhile, and Tinker has much more pressing needs to spend his early gold on. But as it is you should be building more than enough int that a bloodstone isn't necessary for a couple rotations, and the regen is worthless because the costs are too high and you go back to fountain too frequently.

Techies's Aghs ulti is crazy. It's basically huge AOE Lion's ult every 10 seconds with a two second casting time.
