I don't know if we're in the habit of sharing replays, but I had a game I thought was pretty good?  It features a Puck wrecking an Invoker then getting an ungodly amount of kills, an aggravating Omni/Nighstalker comboing magic immunity + the longest silence ever (8 seconds why), and yours truly as Pheonix doing my best in a bad situation.  Normal skill, and its long so you might not want to watch it the whole way, but again I thought it ended up being an interesting and mostly well played game.  Watch > replays > copy-paste 2379921208 into the search bar.

So, Euls on Bane is hilarious.  For 2.5 glorious seconds, you can disable 3/5 of the enemy team, although you'll confuse the shit out of your allies while doing it.  Euls > nightmare > fiend's grip is a 14.5 second stun.  If you reverse the order its a 14.5 second stun through BKB, if you leave out Fiend's Grip its still 9.5 seconds, which is really nice for holding someone in place while your allies move in for the kill.

Not that there's any pressing need for that item on Bane aside from the entertainment value.

The movement speed is quite invaluable actually, since bane has a problem getting into position and then to retreat when everything is on cooldown. Plus it's great when invoker comes to gank you, he cant meatball you that well when you self euls yourself into the air. I prefer it over force staff on bane in most situations where you need something of the ilk. Usually end up building BoTs too because my team at this point generally can't play smart enough to not get caught alone and need a saving grace.

I'm attempting to replace my shit MMR using the International ranked.

So far the first game lasted 70 minutes and featured me, as Pheonix, being my team's main method of canceling TPs for a good chunk of the game (I bought a Euls).  The enemy kept trying to split push for about 40 minutes even tho it mostly stopped working once they hit our base.  We won.

Edit: Just played my second International ranked game.  Its finally happened: I got the highest hero damage in the match as hard support in a game that my team won.  And I was even the only one buying wards :3  Not sure my team noticed how well I was doing, one guy had the nerve to ask me if I knew I could move forward when using the laser.  Pheonix is kinda like that; when a Phoenix does well, it looks like his allies are doing amazing.

Welp, just played my calibration matches for international ranked.  Trying to get out of my 1.2k MMR the easy way.  Won 8/10 of them, with (if you count assists as half a kill) something like 5.0+ KDA average, playing as support.  The games I won were stomps and the games I lost both went over an hour.  Wanna guess what my MMR is?  Wanna guess?

MMR isn't based just on wins or KDA. It tabulates your efficiency as well. In fact, it seems that it cares more about efficiency than anything else. If I'm remembering correctly, Valve had to change the algorithms after it was found out you could get billions of MMR by doing shit like spamming heals on Oracle even if you lost every game. You can bet it's still somewhat the same even after the changes.

Now, that's just healing. What about last hits, creep stacking, ward placement, smoke use, gpm, xpm, tower damage, hero damage, hero survivability, itemization timing, etc. etc. etc. We know Valve tracks everything down to how many times you used your taunt.

Personally I say just enjoy your happy and fun ranked level. I'd rather be in 1k bracket than 4k any day of the week, if I ever played solo ranked like some kind of insane psychopath.

My GPM and XPM are terrible, of course, since I'm a support :/  My hero damage is ridiculous, since I played every single one of those games as Pheonix.  My tower damage... well, one game where we mega-ed the enemies I got 17 tower damage.  Not 1700, just 17.  Its my opinion that you shouldn't attack towers as Pheonix since it breaks your tranquils and health = mana.

What probably killed me, aside from foolishly thinking that supports are valued, is item efficiency.  When I'm winning, like really winning, as support I don't bother buying items sometimes.  Like I got to the end of a game recently and was like "oh look 7k gold, guess I'll buy a heart" and the heart didn't even arrive by the time we won.

GPM and XPM are far from the only things that matter for MMR and playing support shouldn't get you lower calibrated on its own AFAIK.

I think I just have a super low unranked MMR?  Like 1.3k or something.  I've heard that calibration matches don't count always for THAT much, they just count for more than regular matches.  Its disappointing, but expected I guess.  Really I should play more often, but... Overwatch is competing for my time...

I got out of 2k spamming bristleback games-- people just don't realize that you can and will chase them forever with goo stacks, and grossly under-estimate the damage quills can dish out. I used to go vanguard treads optionally pipe and then straight for a heart (I used to get the team together for a mid push after vanguard and get the reaver after winning a big fight/ from tower gold) but that's a pretty bad build honestly, maybe build an abyssal blade with the new change to that item? I haven't played in a while.

Just get solo offlane EXP and bully the carry out once you get lvl3-4 quills and you'll be fine.
