Check if the rock is an illusion cast over an actual boat.

'Then you will not object to talking somewhere more... private?'

Attempt to convince him to lead me to somewhere more private.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You check the rock for illusions using your massive knowlage of magic, poking it with a stick, and a taste test. All sources point to this being a rock, with no illusions or anything else hiding its true, rocky, nature.

What do you do now?

The man looks like he is against the idea for a moment as his face twists into a scowl, but he nodes his head. "Excuse me for not inviting you into my house, we are renovating..." he stated sarcastically, turning around and motioning with his single hand to follow. "I'm not thrilled of your proposition, but at this point what do I have to lose?"

He leads you through the city a bit, down several roads. At first you almost have difficulty following him, he seems to go almost streight through the crowds, but the further he goes the easier the chase becomes as the streets continue to become less and less populated. The man finally comes to a stop in front of the gates to a large graveyard. He bends over, to a nearby bush, and produces a key that opens the gate. Once again he motions you to follow, walking briskly on the dirt path. He brings you to a small sized mausoleum, once again using the key to open the door. Finally, he leans up against the wall, ignoring the coffin in the center.

"This is going to cost you extra." he stated, exhaling deeply. "Before you get any ideas, I made sure we where seen together. I walked through large crowds specifically to draw attention to us, an Otherworlder and the one-armed vagrant traveling together is bound to draw a few eyes. Do anything to me now, and I am sure the guards can figure out what is going on. I made sure we weren't followed in here, of course, wouldn't want them to know about the key. But if they find my body or I go missing, they will know who's to blame."

How big is the rock? Pushable size? If so, push it into the lake. If not, start walking along the shore.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It is a small boulder, about the same size as you. You decide to push it anyway, because why not. You end up pushing it easily, causing a splash of water. As soon as it hits, the rock propels itself across the water like a skipping stone, continuing to bounce off into the horizon. Well that was fun. You begin your long walk on the beach.

Just as you start walking, the roar of a motorboat resounds throughout the forest. Somebody, on a motorboat of course, waves to you as it gets closer. "OI! THERE YOU ARE!" The man on the boat shouts. "I FIXED YOUR BOAT!"

He brings it over here. "Don't ask how I learned to drive this thing. I think it took me three months." he states, as he comes to a stop on the shore.

"It was either five months or five hours. I am always getting those two words confused." He stated, a confused look on his face. "It just...feels like we haven't seen each other in a really long time, you know? Where did you get the hat?"

Climb in the boat.

At the mention of being seen he frowns,
'Now I am tempted to kill you.'
His voice is entirely humourless.
'The price?'

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You get into the boat, which moves just a little as you enter it. "Alright! That way it is!" he states, turning the boat around perfectly and stepping on the accelerator. The whine of the engine picks up, sending the boat speeding across the lake faster then the skipping stone could ever hope to achieve. Crystal like water spreads across you every once and a while, though it is more pleasant than an annoyance.

Even at this speed, however, the journey still takes half an hour (Or was it half a month?), which the crystal like lake being all you can see for the whole trip. You begin to see a large city in the distance (All right. I was lying about "the whole trip." "Most the trip" just doesn't sound as cool), sprawling out from the lake. Dozens of multiple-story houses cover the skyline, with smaller buildings further away from the main city. All the buildings seem to be made out of paper and wood, with triangular roofs. You really should have been able to see this even on the other side of the lake....

You end up passing a few fishing boats as you close in on the city, but otherwise don't see anything or anyone important.

What do you do now?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The man puts his hand to the side, in the "I'm leaving myself open" gesture, while giving a laugh just as humerouse as your death threat. "Your going to need a better threat then that. Back home, that would be seen as being merciful. In fact, those are the words my mom proposed to my dad with."

He then put his hand up, making the "money" gesture. "I'm cheap. Can't work any more, not legitimately and definitely not my old job. Ill give you this information for one of the silver coins the locals through around like rocks. A tenth of what a map would cost ya."
