I can't remember, if blood spatters on their belongings, but not themselves directly, are they able to be affected by the syndrome?  I've got them all locked in a tiny room right now but at least one is getting thirsty.  Idiot should've brought himself a drink in his container.

It needs to touch their skin to affect them. Let them out so they can go wash at the well.

Just make sure everyone has gloves/mittens and socks/shoes. Don't want them walking through the shit barefoot or handling contaminated clothing.

Okay, they are NOT washing the well. Do you want everyone getting sick. Then again, that would be pretty realistic...

Strangely enough, they all were.

I was just gonna find a small pond, open it a little until it's 3 or 4's, then make them wade in it for a bit or something.

We'll be fine so long as nobody handles contaminated gear barehanded or treads barefoot on the blood. But if it turns out harmless (many FBs get shafted in the deadly aspect lottery,) then there's no worries.

The well is built above a running river, it's more or less contaminant immune.

Journal of Karkov:

It's been an interesting couple of days.  First we get that gigantic creature in the caverns, and now we've got more migrants on the way.  There's only eight this time, bringing up our total to a nice sixty-seven, what with our casualty from the giant creature.  I have to admit though, it's teeth do look pretty nice.

We have enough people in the township that we decided to vote for someone to be our mayor, of course I told them all that their choice was dumb and upgraded our accountant to being a mayor as well.  I'm not so sure that was a good idea, since he decided to ban some goods from being exported.  Ah, someone's bringing me the list now.  It is...  Bucklers?  I take it back, this was a great idea.

On another note, we seem to be losing Yak Cows left and right, damned things are starving to death.

Taking all bets, the new mayor just pulled something random out of a hat.

Heard across the fortress: WHY ME?!

Journal of Karkov:

I'm seriously going to give this leadership up as soon as the next year comes, why is this all happening to me?!

The damned beak wolves are back.

In force.

OOC:  And some random arse runs all the way down to the river source to get a drink instead of running back inside the base, so I can't just close it and have archers rain hell upon them.  Damn ye engraver.  Totally dooming us with your slightly-more-than-redshirt abilities.

Journal of Grim

A force of Beakwolves has been sighted. We're rallying to drive them away with blood and iron. I feel elated at the chance to spill their vile blood upon the grass, like a vast fount of amusement is flowing into me at the prospect of battle.

Wow, I totally underestimated the full power of our entire army.  We lost two red-shirts.  Other than that, I don't think anybody even got wounded.  I'll do a write-up in a sec, making sure everyone's fine right now.

EDIT:  Nicknames abound!

Grim:  Grim Paperhead the Dabbling Urn of Bases.
Highmax:  Highmax Winerough the Carmine Dale of Murder.
Eri Apessizzled the Laconic Strap of Gold.

Two people had cuts, one of which had a dented hand.  Only injuries besides the two casualties.

The battlefield after the fight.

Right, so I'm going to go ahead and finish the other half of this year (yeah it's only late summer) tomorrow.  I'm pretty tired and want to play a little bit of Starbound before I go to bed.  From the way this half went though, I can just see a freaking Bronze Colossi walking over our walls and smashing me in my workshop or something.

I thought of another solution to the housing issue, when I did some playtesting of my Norse mod I found a Longhouse style building to be very efficient for housing a large number of humans. Beds along either long wall each designated as a 1 tile room, a row of tables and chairs in front of each line of beds designated as a single dining room and a throne set up at the halls head. I built additional rooms on either side to store things as needed but it worked very well for a simple bed and dining arrangement.
