This is set in the UK, not America. Just pointing that out. Though I wouldn't be all that surprised at an American agent being in the UK, though why would he be hunting vamps in the UK as opposed to the USA?

Though the whole guns remaining rare, people using knives etc instead suggests the UK, as I imagine the US A would be bristling with the things.

Depends on where you live. There is a rifle behind every blade of grass...except in the more liberal states.

Yeh I assumed UK due to mention of the olympics and palace and the 'guns remain rare' thing.

An American ex-agent could be there for a variety of reasons though, including that being the last known location of the person he's looking for.

As for the actual location, that will remain unspecified. Partially because it will be based on my home city. And partly because it removes a factor I have to make consistent.

Guns will be rare, but will exist.
