Well of course they're referencing brave new world. The real question is, whether this means anything or they're just thinking "Hey! That's a relevant, evocative reference! We'll throw it in there."

I mean, there's a luxury apparel store at the mall called Soma, and that's a meaningful reference (and also one that makes me think maybe the people who run it hate their target demographic and are secretly mocking them). Used in a horror game where the horror isn't... well, I don't know if I'd say it's unsubtle, but it's very ostensibly a horror game, I struggle to think of any actual meaning.
