Anyone know what the Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer does? Does it count as a lucky charm, maybe?

I now have 3 minor psychic powers thanks to my willpower bonus.
I can see this going well.

Ok, if my computer can actually download this book, then I will be set.

Might as well chalk it up to Pathos.
As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

It's something like 8 books, which is why it's taking a while.

I'm just going with a simple Hive World Guardsman. No fancy pskyer powers, no crazy tech abilities or the ability to sneaky-sneak everywhere. Just overcharged lasguns with bayonet attachments, heavy stubbers, and grenades.

Oh, and flak armor. Which is surprisingly decent in this system; covers the whole body for a reasonable amount of protection.

It works as toilet paper.

Welp. TPK on turn 1 guaranteed.

10 books.

Just don't piss off any Commissars.

Oh, this made me laugh so hard.

I got a couple memento items, too.

I think one was, what was it, a rusted nail?
Like seriously, who keeps that junk?

A Tech-Priest - he keeps it around because it has a rather aggressive Machine Spirit that he must keep placated.

It takes a full six hours to perform the correct rites, of course.

Memento items are presumably purely cosmetic and are only for RP purposes. They aren't even mentioned in the rulebook. And perhaps that rusted nail was a bit of shrapnel that was pulled out of your body, which you kept as a reminder to be more careful. Or something.

The Primer, on the other hand, is mentioned as one of the things Guardsmen can start with, so I figured it might have a tangible in-game purpose.

But I'm a pysker! What do I use it for? Flipping voodoo dolls?

Ok, that one actually makes a lot of sense, now that you mention it.

I can send it to you, if you want.

But I'm a pysker! What do I use it for? Flipping voodoo dolls?

The Ecclesiarchy would like me to remind you that voodoo is heresy.

Not that I can stop you.

Fine, "tribal rituals". Nothing wrong with those.

I am not to be held responsible when you roll Perils of the Warp and summon a daemon.

Oh wait, that's Xantalos. Nevermind, carry on.

You have to remember that the people of the Imperium are a highly superstitious bunch, and for very good reason. Just about any sort of trinket or memento can be seen as a sign from the Emperor if you convince yourself enough. Even a chunk of rock, potentially.

I can send it to you, if you want.
Yeah, sure. Never actually read the Primer before.

Apparently lasguns can be recharged by throwing the power cells in a fire. Huh.

Also, that's a very nice list of punishments that I just got access too. Thanks, by the way.
