Yes we are Draczor the werebadger from Ceres!
Yes, now I remember, you are Draczor (oh my, names these days), a native of the dwarf planet Ceres. The largest of asteroids, and the most self-sufficient world in The Belt. Ceres is largely independent, profiting off its abundant ice, metals, and space to grow. After 80 years of colonization, the dwarf planet has become home to both ever expanding biospheres on the surface and vast underground caverns, housing well over 10,000 permanent citizens.
You are among the third generation of Ceres. living among the small, underground cities, you have ventured to the surface, climbed mountains, walked valleys. Soon though, you drift to the vast infinite ocean of the internet.
- A very thorough education available to all citizens. Easier to get here than if you where one of the countless Terrans of Earth, and a necessity in the "Frontier"
- Various gene therapies over the course of your young life, adapted to lower light, temperature, and the artificial, Mars-like gravity (We already got Ceres spinning fast enough as it is, thank you.) You likely will get to see an extra century or two compared to your predecessors from the augmentations.
- A family consisting of your parents, a younger sibling, and two Earthling Grandparents.
- a dead-end job with engineering Ceres for the future. Robots and the centuries old founders do most of the work, leaving you the "real" job that basically just includes existing.
- A front row seat to the Big World Circus (Poor tiny Earthlings and their crowed world.)
- Also, recently and separate from the previous list, an unexpected case of
LycanthropyYes, in the 23rd century, on an asteroid, you are a werebeast. Maybe it was a friendly love-bite. Or possibly where one all along, and the gene therapies have screwed the inhibitors. Regardless, it happened. At least you where out in a buggy when it happened. Everyone was too noisy at home. And you did not want to get bellowed at by your parents if your brother saw what you usually look up.
You park in a cave, hidden from satellites and family members alike. Thinking out your searches to the computer in your lap (Brain chips are tiring, give it a rest every so often), your body is racked by sudden shaking, as if you are in a cave-in.
You writhe on the buggy's floor as you shake rapidly, faster than a machine can vibrate through rock. Your buggy work jumpsuit, sensing you are "in danger" numbs you, for once being useful as you actually could hurt yourself here. Painfully, you can see though strained eyes and feel your form changing. Bone and muscle grow, expanding as extra fat and sinew find their way into existence. The suit expands as it fills with not only new body mass, but...
Fur?!As it becomes to much for you to bear, you finally black out...
When you wake, you find yourself very angry, body still sedated from before, but the jumpsuit has torn to make way for this surprise form of yours. You struggle and growl, seeing blood-red as the last of the numbing effects fight to keep you down. But it feels like the "real" you is still disoriented, or just not caring at all. You better if you don't want to end up tearing a hole in the buggy.
In case you are too far gone at the moment to realize, but it is strange that no one has come upon you yet.
Location: Ceres, a discrete cave that is well suited to introverts such as yourself, in a buggy.
Status: First change, frenzied and restrained for the moment, but a waning effect.
