I wonder if LSP is actually Paul from... err... Paul.

Y'know, disgust at eating dead animals.

Here's a more serious news posting on it (zombie outbreak? please...... -.- ).

Also, isn't ebola really only contagious once you start oozing blood or something?

Eating dead bats sure doesn't help.

Hey, maybe if America starts getting infected they'll actually throw money to stop the damned disease in Africa too.

It's contagious once you start showing symptoms, and for a good while after you die.

Well, you have the opportunity to show you have faith in your product.

Except that anybody who dies of ebola either has to be cremated or otherwise somehow sealed. Hell, the sheets and the bed will probably have to be burned.

Well, that's funny.

Ebola comes into the US the day we read Masque of the Read Death in English class.

Guys, don't ever tell my English teacher to introduce to the class something like, say, I Am Legend, or World War Z.

QUICK, have him read War and Peace to the class!

Or how about the translated Journey to the West? Fun read. Probably not the best one to use for english class though.

A few weeks ago, back when the ebola news hype was at its peak, my A&P teacher(a really awesome guy) dug the school's VHS player out of the closet and showed us an old documentary about the last outbreak.

After we watched it, I was thinking... they still don't know where ebola comes from, only that there's an outbreak every ~20 years. It got me wondering, what could transmit it only once every twenty years-ish?

The realization hit me like a mixed metaphor full of sledgehammers. Periodical cicadas in North America emerge once every 17 years. I did a quick google search, and Africa has ~450 species of cicadas, the most of any continent. I did some more research, but it didn't appear that there were any periodical cicadas in Africa. Believe it or not, the internet does not have a list of all species of cicada in Africa, although it does have a list of those in Australia. I shoved the issue in the back of my mind for a while.

So, I ask you, Bay12: Does anyone know where I can find the species of cicadas in Africa?

-snip-
Probably a biologist. That said the majority of modern outbreaks can usually be traced back to a single incident where a human handled the carcass of an infected gorilla, chimpanzee, or duiker, or where they consumed a fruit bat that carried the disease.
