I feel like I've kinda plumbed the depths of the current content. It's very nicely put together, especially for a DF player. I look forward to further updates, but I think I'll back off of it for right now so I don't get burnt out.

Yup, I fell asleep at about 9 pm, didn't add any new content last night. Hopefully today will be better. 3rd and 4th graders followed by a private lesson with an 11-year-old... I should have a bit more energy after that.

MasterCyria, I've unlocked you. I had a look at your old posts and it seems though you've been quiet, you've been around a while and actually play DF. But for the record, I know I didn't say this before, but I'd prefer to only have real B12ers testing for now, so if anyone is signing up for an account just to play my game, they'll have to wait for now.

I don't know if I'll have time to add anything before work today, but I do at least have a loose plan for what I'll do next.

Alrighty, I've finally started implementing my first real plot. This is mostly story-based right now, but action will come soon.

You can now start to learn about the plight of the Haulers. To do so, get your "Accepted By the Haulers" quality up to 10 (you can do this by eating with them in the dining hall, or agreeing to help them with a job via an RNG possibility card that can appear anywhere). Then you will be able to draw a special possibility card that will take you into the Hauler's Crypt, where the unskilled laborers live. I have lots of ideas for various plot to happen down here, and it will tie in with other planned plots as well.

It's all rather depressing at the moment, but don't worry! You will be able to help them (or keep them down, your choice) eventually. I'm working on it!

EDIT: I added another card to the Hauler's Crypt. It allows you to move to the next level of acceptance among the Haulers and gives you free passage into the Crypt. However, there is no material prepared for this part of the story yet, so when you get it, you won't have anything to do there for now. If you want to test it out and then want to go back to the older material, you'll have to reset. I promise I'll be fleshing out the Crypt more soon.

Added a little bit more content tonight. While doing so, I realized that there were a few cards I had forgotten to unlock for general viewing (when new cards are created they are locked so only the creator can see them). So a small chunk of content that I thought had been available for ages was actually not. But now it is. Everything should be available now. Are my testers still around? There's work to be done. : )

Tonight's focus has been on making an impression with the higher-ups. In order to explore the full story of the class system of Riddlerocks (focusing on the Haulers and the Higher-Ups), you'll have to balance your influence with both groups. Then, you'll have some big decisions to make.

Also, I discovered that there are ways to enter "advanced" formulas for manipulation of various qualities rather than just direct numbers. I intend to have a great deal of fun with this, and with the random number generator, in the near future.

I don't have any plans for the weekend just yet, so it's looking good for making solid progress on Riddlerocks.

Good news, everyone! After taking a break for the past few weeks, I've started updating the game again. Today I started implementing the first "quest" to help the Haulers. I was hoping to finish it tonight, but I don't think I'll quite make it. You can complete the first half right now, but the second half is not ready yet. It's planned out, I just have to enter it all in, which takes longer than you might think.

If you don't mind massive spoilers, here's what I have implemented so far. Really, though, if you want to figure things out for yourself, don't read this part.


There will be other ways to achieve your objectives, so you testers might need to reset your characters a few times to see it all. For now there's just the one way, though, and even that is only halfway done, so don't panic if you can't figure out what to do next (or if you're really desperate, check the above spoiler to make sure you didn't miss anything).

There will be many more quests in this plotline. Anyone who is willing to try out what is ready now, you can start by visiting the Hauler's Crypt and making friends with them. The rest will follow. I'd like to see if anyone is able to complete the quest without my spoilers - I don't want it to be easy, but I don't want it to be overly difficult, either. Just keep in mind that you will have to revisit some old cards, including "always" (pinned) cards that you have seen before, because new options will open up when you're on quests.

AMAZING NEWS, EVERYBODY!

StoryNexus has finally added an option for custom images. They must be externally linked, not uploaded, but this means I'm no longer limited to their horrible, horrible, awful, terrible, horrible library of mostly-useless images. However, I'm definitely not going to have time to be creating new images for my game anytime soon, so I look to you guys. Anyone who is interested in helping me create (or find, legally) icons for the game, please let me know! It's not a top priority right now, but I will definitely be updating the images in the game as soon as it's practical.


As you can see from the announcement, they've also added CSS functionality, but since I know nothing about that, I'm not going to mess with it right now. Maybe in the distant future.

Yesterday I spent the whole day (the WHOLE day) at the foreigner police trying to sort some things out with my visa (and I have to go back early tomorrow morning, sob sob sob), so there were no updates, but right this moment, as soon as I finish making my coffee, I'm going to get to work. Hopefully working on this will help me clear my head of all the bureaucratic hullabaloo I'm currently going through. I'll post again when I'm done for the day.

Aw man, visas  :'( Best of luck with that, hope you get it sorted out!

And finally - images! Good luck finding an artist too! That can really make a difference! The general feel of the game is nice, but the icons would really bring it out :)

Oooooooo. Gonna have to donate some d'art. There's also technically nothing stopping you from using quality pre-existing images, but as a creative endeavor I can understand why you might not want to do that.
