Alright so I hugged and talked to a tree...

I'm becoming an Elf :P

Also, I haven't noticed anything, but that may be due to how Perception is my dump stat IRL :P

Also when you have the option to kill the Kobold. "Dwarven property".

It seems the influence of Tolkien is strong in me. Anyway, that one is fixed now!

I have unlocked the 4 of you. Enjoy the game!

I'll be home for the next few hours, preparing for work, in case anyone else wants to create a character.

EDIT: Okay, I'm off to work. I'll be back in the evening, so any new characters just drop your names here and I'll unlock you when I get home.

I'm actually around StoryNexus for a while now, maybe I will be of some help, as a tester. My name is Diarmait, and the very first card I've seen said 'dwarven', so you might want to take a look at it when you have a chance. :)

OK, you're unlocked. Which card exactly had the mistake? I'm looking through now.

EDIT: Nevermind, found and fixed. Thanks for the report. Enjoy Riddlerocks!

I can't seem to find an "in" anywhere. I've pulled cards for all locations, visited all locations and everything is rated impossible. Are you just supposed to throw yourself at impossible challenges until one sticks?

What challenges are you referring to? Most of the job skills can be leveled up in "pinned" cards such as workshops. For example, to get the "chef" skill, you work in the kitchens in the workshop area. The skill used for success is Craftsdwarfship, but you are rewarded with points in chef.

The only one that I think is still an exception to this rule is Persuader, but that will change soon.

If you follow the above directions and are still having trouble, maybe it needs rebalancing. I'm open to opinions on this. Keep in mind, of course, that once I start implementing plots and such, many more options for raising your skills will be added during the various storylines.

All the pinned locations I've checked all have skill requirements to do anything. The only thing I've found I was able to do is get a medical text book from the Chief Medical Dwarf. Which it says I have to read to go to work in the hospital...but I have no idea how to read it.

Clearly someone got somewhere, but I have no idea how. Even the "community service" option in the Captain of the Guard's office, which I can do because I've got troublemaker (the only consistent thing I've managed to do since I get nothing but Kobold cards) has a skill requirement on it.

Ah ok, I have to go to my room to read the textbook....guess I'll do that later.

To read the book, visit your room. It says so when you get the book, and I've just added that to the book description in your inventory, so that should be clearer now.

The skill requirements for the pinned cards are generally your main stats - craftsdwarfship, wits, and force. These should be fairly easy to level up. Are the starting requirements too high? Are you really getting "impossible" for the basic ones?

Ideally, the first time you try to do something which matches your "starting" skill (for example, craftsdwarfship if you chose the soap maker profession), the difficulty should be something like "modest." For your other skills, it should be around "chancy." If that's not the case, I'll have to tweak these difficulties.

The difficulty for doing community service is dependent on being in the Captain of the Guard's good graces. (If she doesn't like you, she won't give you a way to work off your Troublemaker levels.) I've just lowered the requirement so it should be a bit easier. This quality can be found in many places, usually involving fighting.

This is good feedback, by the way. If anyone else is finding balance problems, please let me know and I'll keep tweaking until things seem right.
