Omega Rogue-Style game from the late 80's
« on: September 28, 2013, 12:35:38 pm »

 here it is
by far my favorite rogue-style game.

+multiple winning scenarios.
+buckets of lizard parts.
+a completely obtuse inventory system.
+a play yourself mode.
+multiple concurrent professions.
+10 fingers so 10 rings.
+make adom look friendly

now with tiles (you know for wusses  ;) )

blah blah blah

Your link is not corroborated by known Omega data elsewhere on the net.

For those that are actually interested in Omega, you should go to Roguebasin, and follow the links there.

Thanks officer
the problem is that that the builds don't work on modern windows.
but to put your fears to rest the link I gave is included on 3rd link on Rogue-basin. named Omega for Windows. it was near the bottom so I tried to help people out.

Adding your own link to a wiki (after I note that your data isn't there) does not allay my concerns for the greater good.

There are numerous other problems with your original presentation, which I will not enumerate.  Good day sir.

DOS is one of the latest builds, so I imagine DosBox would work.

Still need to get around to playing Omega more than a few seconds, one of these days. It's one of the major influences for Incursion and... yeah. I do hear it's pretty alright. Just never really gotten around to sitting down and having a go at it.

Also just saying that it's "rogue-like" and not "rogue-style".

I gave Omega a shot twice over the past three to five years and both times I couldn't figure out how to do anything at all. It's about as difficult for me to do anything in Omega as it is for Cataclysm - and Omega has controls I can understand and actually remember.

Then again the only roguelikes I even do semi-decent with these days are ADOM and ToME 4, and out of those I only really like ADOM enough to play it over and over again - which I have for at least eight or nine years. The fact that OP managed to diss one of my favorite games of all time is kind of upsetting.

If only there was an option for this forum to hide threads. I'd do that right about now for this one considering how annoyed I am.

This one is mentioned on the other page and works in standard windows

I assume you are kidding about being offended if you actually are I am sorry.
I personally think this is a cleaner game than ADOM. (which I love very much as well)

I was annoyed but now I'm kind of over it. I'm much more easy to annoy when I don't sleep well.

Thank you sir at least we can all rest well knowing you are on the beat.

So for people that want to live on the edge and not install DosBox or do a Linux boot to play a 80's roguelike.

a sadness has overcome me as I realize that ver 0.80.2 only lets you have 4 rings.  :o
the source code is there at that dangerous dangerous site so one could fix that.
