So, why do you know these people? How did you meet them? What history do you share? Remember, just note the relationships under your character's name: the other ones are filled out by the other players, even if they involve your character.

Perhaps give a glance at the character sheets of the people you're connected with so the history matches up. If you feel that your character's actions in another person's backstory is out of character, don't be afraid to speak up. Though it can be explained as an exaggeration of the truth.

William and Derya were both in the orphanage system at around the same time, and met there. They stayed in touch since then, but their criminal lives have rarely intersected.

William first encountered Mary through their mutual friend, Derya, and eventually started doing bit-work with her group of associates from time to time. Mary and her friends burned Will during a job, making off with the take and leaving him to escape from the police on his own. He was nearly killed during that run, and has borne a grudge against her ever since. Maybe it wasn't Mary's fault per se, but it's too ingrained for Will to turn things around now.

So... let me think.

For William Puckett, how about this: Tim acts as William's fence, both receiving certain goods and supplying things for use in his jobs. William is one of Tim's first regular customers, so there's a bit of an emotional bond forming there, at least from Tim's point of view. He sympathizes with William's plight, having once entertained hopes of getting out of this place himself.

As for Ben Miko, well... Tim has certain methods of acquiring things - most often they are from trade routes of a sort, but sometimes they are also things no one else has seen or found, stashes and artifacts belonging to either the dead or the absent. Once, quite early in his career, Tim got a magical tip about a certain amount of money hidden away, and he went for it - indeed, there was quite a bit of cash. Sadly, it also had an owner. There was a bit of a discussion between said owner - one Ben Miko, as you may have guessed - and Tim at gunpoint, which, luckily for Tim, did not hurt a whole lot and ended relatively amiably. As in, Ben just took him to be a rat bastard thief who didn't know any better and let him go. Fortunately, they haven't had much to do with one another since then, though this event was just a few months ago.

Humm, try this on for size guys!

@Tiru: I really couldn't think of anything other than a 'job went wrong' thing and she just doesn't like your personality? :P

Tim Gerber, a Friendship with some benefits
Kat wasn't a junkie-unless one counted the pot. She didn't like dealing with hard drugs, or working with drug dealers. It reminded her of how her father was able to control her with his own 'supply'. But, it didn't change the fact she needed something...a certain potion-a compound composed of parts of green naga venom (Warding), a shard of a phoenix eggshell (Regeneration), and a hind scale from a mature black dragon (Antimagic)-among other estoeric ingredients. It was quite expensive, of course, but readily available to those who had the means. Malcolm Fry was not the only ritualist who used such a curse to 'leash' those he would prefer to serve under him.

To be reduced to scrounging for money like an addict ashamed her. It was, as intended, a reminder of how she could never be free. But there was no alternative-not taking the compound would be close enough to suicide-forced transmogrification. Her soul snuffed out to fit inside a lesser form. It kept her up at night. So, when she was short one month-and weighing her options-it was fortunate she met Tim Gerber. Maybe he was feeling merciful, or perhaps he heard her story and felt sorry. Maybe he just wanted to sleep with her, she assumed at the time. Perhaps he was thinking about profits and repeat business, or none of those things. But, he got her the stuff she needed and took her on her word. It took awhile, but she paid him back. Now she prefers to do business with him directly, whenever possible, for most of thing she needs-she also tries to work alongside him and Terence, who make quite a good partnership.

But-Tim was always handsome and polite, to her anyway-so she asked him out on a date not long ago. It figured he wasn't exactly into her or women, and politely refused. While she was somewhat embarrassed at the time, it's certainly something they can laugh about now.

Lilith Evans, Denial of Service
There's just some people you don't get along with. Lilith Evans was one such person-Kat had originally contracted with the woman for a minor, easy job-they needed a lookout and a distraction for a heist. She had immediately disliked her snooty demenaor and somewhat high minded opinion of herself. Like she was better than any of them?

But, a job was a job-and Kat kept her opinions to herself...until the whole thing went south. Three people got busted. Lilith got out without a scratch-Kat almost took a dive, but wasn't at ground zero when it happened. They couldn't pin anything on her except illegal parking and loitering tickets.

In short, she's not liked the woman very well ever since-even if the details of the job were a bit vague.

Tim Gerber, a Friendship with benefits

...

But-Time was always handsome and polite, to her anyway-so she asked him out on a date not long ago. He somewhat nervously agreed, and they had a good time together in Kats estimation. So, unless he was just being polite, she's really hoping he agrees to another. She likes him in many ways-and a cool, cunning part of her wants him to like her back for all the other reasons.

I don't think that last part works. Tim's not really into women, you see. And he and Terrance have a mostly healthy relationship as well.

((Apologies that I can't think of anything better for Derya just yet - it was that or the druggie she harbours ;) ))

Ben knows Lilith through the simple fact of her having a younger sister who happens to be one of the kids in the area and who has always been kind to Chloe, his young daughter. The two kids have got things in common - not much of a family compared to some, number-wise, at least - and have often been looked after by the same mums and grandmothers in the area when their respective guardians have needed a helping hand. Ben and Lilith haven't had a great deal of contact, passing in the street or in the stairwells of apartments of friends where their children have been playing at, but there's a kind of mutual understanding of the importance of their common task - taking care of someone more important than the world. And out of this has been born a little empathy, and a little respect.

Ben dislikes Derya for a simple and, one could say, simplistic reason. Children, he believes, are entirely innocent, up to a point, and sense things different than we can. And the first time Ben and Chloe saw Derya round their apartment block the little girl decided she wasn't right. She had nightmares for days, and even if he didn't believe Chloe the lack of sleep this entailed would be enough for Ben to get grumpy whenever the thinks of the slightly strange young woman. In any case, he does believe her, although whether this is because of some ingrained prejudice or not no one could say.

Mary Black: Similarities

Derya knows Mary well, meeting her online and chatting over their similar jobs and interests. Eventually, they got on the topic of their strange powers, and decided to meet each other- from that point on, they were good friends, especially after sharing their secrets. Derya is protective of Mary, often helping set up networks to prevent tracking or asylum, although Mary is good enough on her own to rarely need it.

Kathryn Fry: Instinctive Hatred
Derya dislikes the family name Kathryn bears, but her main reason of disliking her is unknown to her. She feels uncomfortable in near vicinity, and the two mix as well as oil and water. While it's possible for Derya and Kathryn to share a sentence or two without attempting to murder or maim each other, Derya is quick to aggression with her and avoids her whenever possible. Derya mentions that "there's only room for one predator in this territory", but refuses to use her powers on her.

(LA, you could always include that the nightmares involved snakes or something. Derya's original design was that she was a god based on Ouroboros- she's not quite a god this time around.)

Mary Black
Friend: Jakob Haynes

Was hired to get his team through the bank's electronic security. Got chatting about other things and found they got on quite well.  She purged the cameras of his involvement, so he got off but the others had already been caught.

Rival: Ben Miko
