This. I'm happy each time I visit the supermarket because there's a ten-meter aisle filled with beer, a new kind every few centimeters. Even at my regular supermarket (which is nothing special, there's another one with a selection at least twice as big) there's at least fifty different sorts of beer!

Ahhh beer! This is the best thread. I rarely drink the same beer twice, I try to always grab a new one when I get one at dinner or whatever. How do people drink the mass stuff? Coors literally tastes like water, and most of the rest isn't much better. Molson Canadian is decent enough I guess. Mill St. has a nice broad selection, and Ontario has more breweries and brew-pubs than you can shake a stick at.

Bad poll is bad. How do import Europe beer to Europe.

Edit: To answer question, the best beer is obviously Scot beer! Bring me a flagon of whatever Brewdog produces. Please, not the 35% stuff, it's only the start of the day.

European master beer race here, I love local Slovak brews and like Czech pilsners (mmm Krušovice). Sadly I still didn't have any German beer :(. I had Ukrainian beer from Ľviv and it wasn't half bad - pleasant surprise really. I did have some British ale though, but for me it tasted horribly. How can anyone drink that stuff?

British ale is tasty, tasty flavored water. it must be drunk by the pint in a noisy pub with friends.

What did you drink? 'British ale' encompasses a huge range of styles and beers.

Well I think the beer was called Newcastle brown ale (translated). I also drank Belgian ale - Stella Artois, which tasted better for me than Newcastle ale. I don't really like the sweet taste in my beer, and that ale was pretty sweet for me.

Stella Artois is the overpriced piss we manufacture for export though. You don't see many people drinking it here.

Yep, probably as I've never been to Belgium, its the only Belgian beer I know :(. But it was still better than Newcastle.

What, no option for homebrew? ... though I suppose technically that could count as a locally made craft brew.

I've never had beer. I hear it's an acquired taste, and that a lot of the mass-produced stuff is pretty terrible. I wouldn't be adverse to trying some, but I'm rarely in a situation where I can drink alcohol anyway.

That's just beer snobs being beer snobs.

Mass produced beer is not terrible, it's just designed to appeal to as many people as possible which tends to leave it rather generic and bland.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying a budweiser or whatever now and then, but you should experiment with different styles because there's a good chance there's something you will like better.

Oh, I love beer. I know so many people who don't, though. Gits. Beer tastes just fine, thank you very much. I got nothing against ciders or harder stuff, but sometimes you just gotta get your beers in.

No matter how many times we say it, they never seem to get it.

Not all American beers are the mass produced swill.

Craft beers here are the way to go.  Although I will admit to enjoying a Grain Belt or two...and honestly Budweiser isn't too bad all things considered, it's the light beer you have to avoid.  Or Coors.
