Eh, I'm not big on beer. Some of it is good but in general not my thing. My idea of an alcoholic beverage is that it should taste stronger, and beer generally sits in the awkward no-man's-land in between tasting and nothing and tasting of something.
There are exceptions of course. Old Peculier definitely is a good one.

I could mail you some.
That would almost certainly be illegal. The United States, alas, has tons of arbitrary rules about the transport and sale of alcohol, and I'm reasonably confident you need a license to ship it across state lines (much less through customs). I could be wrong on this, but I expect it's really not worth getting into.

I do appreciate the offer though! They'd probably enjoy it.

I did some quick searching and found a site that could be helpful.  No good microbreweries in your area?

On a different note, I had some excellent Sweet Potato Beer from a microbrew I had never heard of before.  It was heaven in a glass.

I once shipped a crate of beer to China (long story) - nobody really cares as long as it's small amounts, like in care packages.

I've personally never had a (domestic) beer that didn't taste like someone had drank straight rubbing alcohol, then bottled their pee for a little bit afterward and the European imports I've actually managed to get a hold of aren't much better. Does anyone have one they can recommend that I can get in the US that won't cost more than, say, $15? I don't care how much of it I get for that amount, I just want to be proven wrong.

My real love is for wine and brandy, but I won't clutter up the beer thread with that nonsense.

Try to get your hands on some trappist bear - it will cost you, but it's goooood - and unlike any other beer, so you'd probably like it.

I have absolutely no idea what European beers are easily available in the US. Heineken is probably pretty widely available, but that tastes like beer-flavoured water to me. I prefer beers with a slightly bitter taste over sweeter varietes. My favourite brewery is a regional one, but I like most German-style Pilsner beers.

Picon beer is also nice (it's basically a shot of Picon added into the beer).

I think a supermarket here carries that one - I'll have a look (and, later on, a sip or two) once I come by that place.

If you're used to Kölsch, you might find it too bitter. It's my preferred beverage in general, but then I practically grew up on that stuff. They had some funny adds too:

I'm an American and I can honestly say the growing trend of local breweries is the best thing to happen, particularly here in Michigan. I generally like very dark beer, lagers, and porters, but I'm totally fine with most things (in fact, the only thing I don't like is IPAs). Of course, because we live right next to Canada you can get Labatt Blue pretty much everywhere that has beer, and I think that's generally better than the other massed produced stuff.

Speaking of beer, I tried Budweiser for the first time last night. It sure wasn't as bad as I expected.

I've never had beer. I hear it's an acquired taste, and that a lot of the mass-produced stuff is pretty terrible. I wouldn't be adverse to trying some, but I'm rarely in a situation where I can drink alcohol anyway.

I like beer.  I'm not a connoisseur though, so I don't really know what I like.  I just tend to buy random local beers and some I like, and some I don't like.  I think in general I seem to like Lagers.

I need to learn more about the different types of beer. I used to think I liked lagers, but lately I've had a few lagers that were weirdly sweet and awful. I tend to dislike ale as well, which is sad because it'd be a cool drink of choice.

I think some of my favourite beers are classed as draught beers... I'll have to do some research.
