As another proud european here, I am a big beer fan. I'm a fan of just about every type of beer, but my best experiences have been with microbreweries.

Also, given the large number of yanks present on this board, there are a couple misconceptions to be cleared up concerning beer drinking:
-330ml is not a beer. 330ml is two-thirds of a beer. The proper unit of beer is the pint, which is 568ml. Be careful, though, as if you ask for a pint in america you'll likely be fobbed off with 473ml.
-The correct temperature for serving beer is 10 to 14 degrees celcius, known as cellar temperature. If someone tries to sell you a beer colder than that, then it means the beer is absolute swill and they're trying to get your mouth too numb from the cold to detect it.
-American beer is like making love in a canoe

I'll often buy a pot of beer, if only for the novelty of ordering "a pot of 'Gold". :P
(XXXX Gold is a cheap-ass local beer brand here.)

I could never understand how people enjoy the taste of beer.  I've tried a few, and I can't stand them at all.

Anything I drink typically has to be frutier than Carmen Miranda's hat, or a white russian.

Fruity beers exist. Try Leinenkugel for that; they're a good brand for the fruity stuff.

I drink dark beer when possible (preferably brewed by someone I know) and fruity beer otherwise. I don't care where it was made (this is beer, not bourbon) but a local beer is most likely cheaper than an imported beer of the same quality, so I'll choose that option.

'Nother european here.

also, Belgian/German beers are THE BEST IN THE WORLD. although of course there IS shitty beer even there.

I have had some nice surprises though when I went in Colorado for a month, there were some very nice locally brewed beers.
Though Budweiser tastes like distilled moose piss.

I mostly drink imported beers because the vast majority of French beers are either "oh god why am I drinking this" or "eh, it's OK".

Speaking as an American, this is the unvarnished truth. The only good beer I've had that came from the States was a mixed case that our family got as payment from a local brewery for my father and our dog starring in a double commercial for their beer and our friend's gourmet dog food.

I'm soso on beers. I'll drink a craft beer with a meal or when going out with friends....but that's more or less my limit. More than 3 beers and I'm done for the night, I don't like the effect MOST beer has on your body. Or maybe I just don't metabolize alcohol very well.

That said, Germany's beers.....so completely unlike American beer. I think I drank 10 or 12 of them in one sitting when I was down there and didn't even really feel all that drunk. Typically that's "I'm going to get WTF shit faced" amounts of beer for me. And I didn't even have a hang over the next day.

Domestic American beer puts so much shit in there that it's basically a hang over in a can. So if my choices are water and Bud Light/Coors/Michelob/ect.....I'll drink water. Or a cocktail.

Love beer, pretty much any kind of beer (except Radlers, those aren't beers, those are fruity drinks for little girls), there's a few local ones I prefer but that's about it, we don't have much access to imports here, except the cheap ass canned ones made for big retailers.

So anyways, I'll try whatever I can get my hands on as far as beers go, since beers are awesome.

Well, I tried both Belgian (Stella Artois) and German (Heineken) beers and I was severely unimpressed. They lack any taste whatsoever.
(Note that in Czech Republic term 'eurobeer' is used as negative descriptor)

Welcome to Murdermachines. Try the gecko sauce; it's delectable and delightful, a wonderful blend of savory and spicy that makes any dish delicious without being too overwhelming.

You could be killed for that. Heineken is Dutch. (Also horrible).

Belgium beer is generally good. Don't know which are the best, as I don't drink it.

Well remember that any culture's beer is a wide array of different tastes and sensations.

If the everyday brew is unsatisfactory, as it tends to be, then try their more esoteric brews.

German here, from the Rhineland (around Cologne). Needless to say, I'm a great fan of Kölsch :D Also Cider, and generally most beer that's not too rich in hops.

On the question of serving sizes, a German rapper once had a line (translated): "A third of a liter is nonsense, who came up with that? 0.5 fits your hand better!" So yeah, I like the 0.5 liter / 1.5 liter servings best, even though it's generally considered odd to order a whole pitcher just for yourself :P

Heineken is awful and Stella artois is slightly below average. Kronenbourg is also awful.

Try things like... Kriek, Chimay (although the yellow Chimay is pretty bad), Duvel.

If it's Belgian and notably more expensive than the baseline beer... try it. I can't guarantee 100% good taste but you'll be bound to find at the very least a few good or very good beers.
