FINISH OFF THE BELLY! BITE, CHEW, CLAW, RIP!
More officially: Attack belly, keep clinging (reaction: jump away if bigtooth falls.) If possible, get head in to bite some important organ (which will hopefully, take all it's energy in one go, and save our comrade!)
((I'm going to say Belly going to 0 hp would inflict 2 wounds, costing him 10 more Vigor per turn. I've seen video of African animals walking around with their guts hanging out. It messes them up real bad but isn't always an immediate KO.))
You bite down on a chunk of flesh and pull, it comes loose with unexpected suddenness, you flop awkwardly onto the ground. The Bigtooth steps on your tail as it rages along.
(1 vs 6+1. Botch, 10 dmg taken)
Drop into the Bigtooth's shoulders and cling onto it! Begin biting and clawing at the back of the neck and base of the skull!
Your landing is awkward, you barely avoid tumbling off and are unable to do any noticeable damage.
(1-1+2 vs 1+1, Luck 4)
wiggle free, defend.
You struggle in vain then raise your arms to defend yourself as best you can.
(Struggle 2, Fail) (Def +1 Until start of next turn)
The Bigtooth's huge mouth descends and closes partially around you as you struggle. A moment later you realize you somehow are not dead and are in one, rather bloody, piece. The Bigtooth lost it's grip when it tried to pull you apart, you are lying on the ground a little way off from it.
(30 Damage taken. No longer Pinned, Still Prone, Close Range to Bigtooth)
Eat Sandvich!
The little hunter is wiggly, somehow your teeth scrape along it without finding purchase and it flops out of your grasp.
(Attack 1+1 vs 1+1-3, Total 3, 30 Damage)
Claw the eyes more! Try to distract if from brutally murdering my ally!
Nope, it casually swats at you with a forearm interrupting your attack and opening up a scratch across one of your legs.
(Attack 2 vs 4+1, Botch 10 dmg taken)
Action: Time to charge and headbutt the left leg! Knock it off balance!
You charge and headbutt it's leg but this time it is as immovable as a tree.
(Attack 4+2 vs 4+1, Hit, Half dmg from Blunt = 1, 10% chance of knockdown: Roll 18. Nope)
Again with the biting and the left leg and-
Again you are knocked roughly back.
(Attack 2-1 vs 5+1, Botch 10 dmg taken)
Poor Scrapheap, his character build would make a good scout out hunting, but in combat with this foe it's a bit rough.
I want to formalize teamwork and pack behavior to give you guy's more strategic options, including things characters like scrapheap could do in combat to be extremely valuable.
Have some special actions for everyone to try:
Mock Charge - Major Action. Pick a creature to harass. It gets +1 Attack against you, but your teammates get +1 attack against it until your next turn. The creature will probably attack you unless injury distracts it (Uses Cunning)
Flanking Strike - You and a teammate both declare this to coordinate and attack simultaneously from opposite sides. Even if you botch neither of you will take Counter Attack damage this turn. (Ground based only, doesn't work with Riders. Initiative of faster Hunter is delayed to match slower one.)
Lookout - Major Action. Instead of attacking this turn watch your friend's backs and warn them of danger. A successful Sense roll gives them a temporary +1 Defense.
Furious Attack - Minor Action. Burn an extra 5 Vigor this turn to get +1 Attack.
(Subject to change if they break anything)
