Selina was crying a little, a sob escaping her mouth.

"Hey, hey, look at me." Delphinium draws back, checks around and pulls off her mask.  Looking directly at Selina, certainty in her eyes, "They know better than to even think of taking you.  They might be monsters, but they know better than to even think of taking one of us." Elena cupped Selina's hands in her own, her voice hard.  "I swear, I promise on everything that I am and have done, that if they even think of taking you, I will have them begging me to kill them."  It wasn't her best motivational speech, but it was honest.  That thought surprised her, she had been very careful about making threats like that.  If Selina was hurt by the Bones or any other villain group, Elena would hurt them back.

"...Thank... you..." Selina hugs her tightly, crying softly as she slowly calmed down... very slowly.

"Come on, you need rest and I need a pick me up."  She said drawing out her phone, "We've got a couple of good napping couches and some extra sheets."

She dialed the infirmary, "Hello, this is Delphinium, could someone come over to the Ward's HQ to check for a concussion.  If you could also bring some of Mrs. Kataiser's serum, that would be excellent as well."  She hangs up before they could ask her to take the time to come down there to make it easier, but she wanted to make sure that Selina was really going to be okay.

((I tend to take a rather detached perspective from the story. A lot of people want X to succeed because X is the main character and X is very awesome as we've seen from all our time in X's viewpoint. However, that doesn't mean that I want X to live through impossible as stated for his character odds that would take a Deus Ex Machina to escape from purely because X is the protagonist and we're used to his viewpoint. From my viewpoint that's not a good reason to root for the character in this instance.))

The oddness might be because you distance yourself from the characters in question. (as you have said previously) Some readers wish to be the character they read about, or be entrenched in the world in some way. I would be hard pressed to find someone who didn't daydream of a a self insert to some tale that they have enjoyed.

Isn't it weird that ideally we'd wish to be in a utopia but in practice we enjoy distopias more. no one likes stories where all problems are solved.

((Humanity evolved as a predatory species, no matter how much we consciously wish for a utopia we instinctively desire conflict.

A true human utopia would involve world peace and an interstellar conflict, kinda like star trek.))

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.
