You need the anti tank rifle as well if you want to invade. Producing enough tanks to cover all the infantry would take far to long oh and I suggest you put priority on the new engine on high altitude for fighters.

I give it 2 more design turns max before the enemies fighters start shooting down the bombers.

1.1: Question: Why did the infantry armament complex produce no SMGs?
Because the orders were to stop production at 10000, IIRC

Our next fighter plane need to be all new.
No useing the old Radial Engine(it is killing our aerodynamics) instead a new liquid-cooled V,W or H engine should be used.
Super charging will be need to help our engines breath at high altitudes.
Weapon wise a better 30mm cannon so we a good one hit kill weapon, or a better 15mm MG for dog fighting.
Rockets should be on the list

I didn't think that had the support to get in IIRC

As for my opinion on the landers, They're fine, but we need a transport for them to be loaded onto in the first place.

Radials are actually the best. For anything less than a turboprop radials work well, unless you are thinking a long bank of Wankels.

There is not really anywhere of our radials to go other than bigger and forced induction.

Aerodynamics can be helped by adding more banks to keep the small front diameter, but that hurts the cooling airflow.

Wankels are to advanced for now, but long bank the length of the fuselage would be interesting.

The only engine that can dramatically improve our airforce is a jet engine. And we don't have the guided missiles/rockets to make that work so...

Just because it has jets does not mean it is better. Heck, mustangs from world war two are still a threat.
Atleast to helicopters.
Most of them anyways.

My proposal was actually to stop producing the SMG and use them to produce LMGs. Didn't get through, though.

Well, comparing our engine to later-war non-jet ones means we can still increase power by about 300kW (1/3rd), which is a pretty significant number.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nakajima_Homare

Powerwise is on par with every other engine, but its size is much smaller than any contemporary radial ones. Why move to Vees without good reason when we can stick to radials?

Well people don't really know what to do to move forward.

OTOH, maybe we should just start voting...

Well, we can always vote, even at the beginning. But yeah, may be time.

A further discussion: Should we, next turn, build a glider and train airborne infantry?
