Runes and You
The selection of the correct rune will empower your spell considerably. For most casters, the element of Genesis will be channeled through the rune. Therefore a rune attuned to Fire and Destruction will give the best results. Many find affinity with a Cen-Sigil combination, or with Getel, Shôro a, or symbols from any number of other languages. Others find a pictogram most effective, be it of the Sun or of an open flame. Alternative elements require alternative runes, of course. Proper Grip

-Be sure to hold the Phial in your Projective Hand, away from your body and facing upward toward your target at a 30° angle. Raising the phial upward at the shoulder and turning it to the correct angle with your wrist will produce the best results.
-Appropriate aim is simple to understand, but difficult to master! Your line of vision should intersect with the line of fire as close to the target as possible, giving you maximum time to focus on the intentional components of Steps 4 and 5 of the spell.
-Humans, Elves and Dwarves are advised to use their forefinger in a hooking motion as a somatic focus during Steps 2 and 3 while grasping the physical cork or stopper with their thumb and remaining three fingers. Orcs are advised to use all three of their fingers on the cork while making the hooking motion with the thumb. This will minimize both fumbling and premature detonations.

Identifying Your Projective and Receptive Hands

Drawing Forth the Logos Essence
As you should be aware by now, ink and other writing implement are infused with a nonactualized potential of Logos essence, that of thought, reason and logic. During Step 2 this Logos essence must be drawn out. A variety of mental exercises may be employed here, but ultimately this aspect of the spell requires a small Triumph of the Will over Elements. Fortunately, anyone with the slightest hint of magical talent should be able to learn to draw a tiny amount of essence from a tiny amount of matter for the space of a few seconds. As mentioned in the section on Proper Grip, it may be helpful to visualize the Logos as a strand within the ink and then "hooking" a finger around the strand. Once the essence is drawn out, hold it in place while performing Steps 3 through 5.
Infusing the Ink with Power
Next comes the most difficult stage of the spell, as four distinct magical operations must be performed simultaneously. First, the caster must channel enough magical energy of the appropriate element into the ink to fuel the blast. Second, the caster must will the ink to launch out of the phial and toward the target. Third, the caster must visualize the rune forming on the target once it impacts. Finally, the caster must maintain their hold on the Logos Essence. Needless to say, most unaugmented casters find it difficult to maintain several distinct trains of thought at once. Appropriate gestures and chants are thus vital to the successful casting of the spell and must be created by the caster in accord with their respective talents.
Normally, we would advise including a somatic component to the ritual, but in this case both hands are likely to be already occupied, the receptive with the cork and Logos essence and the projective with the phial. Work-arounds are possible, of course; some creative mages use their tongue to trace the rune and modify their grip on the phial to allow for a "flicking" gesture with the forefinger, but these require a great deal of dexterity that most casters lack. Instead, you may wish to consider a verbal component, either whispering the name of the rune of be used or reciting some incantation of power.
One final method which has seen some success is to visualize the rune to be cast before you in the mind's eye with the power of the element flowing from a point behind the caster's eyes out into the rune. Typically this element is that of Genesis. Accordingly, practitioners may find it helpful to visualize the rune as being on fire. Other elemental styles may find it helpful to visualize the rune freezing over, crackling with electrical sparks or otherwise being more directly in tune with the element to be channeled.
Enhancing Your Rune's Power
Steps 4 and 5 of the spell is perhaps one of the most difficult steps for our human readers: Infusing the Ink with Magical Potency. If you have an IMQ of 45 or less (as measured by a WizCo Magical Affinity Identification Kit or other similar product) this spell will not be possible without an infusion of internal magic, Divine Intervention, access to an outside source of power or some one of the variety of performance enhancing rituals available at the WizCo Magical Enhancement Centre. Even if sufficient energy is available, having additional power is always helpful: More power leads to more potent runes and stronger, more destructive explosions. If the Practitioner is willing and able to undergo various rituals, improved control, magical strength and other sundry benefits may be had toward the casting of this spell.

-Always be sure you absolutely positively wish to blast the thing you're casting at with destructive arcane energy! Blasting runes are not a toy and can and will kill those who they are detonated around.
-The blast radius of this spell is typically somewhere in the range of 3 to 6 meters, depending on the power of the caster. Be sure to test this radius regularly on inanimate objects before using it in stressful conditions, and especially after undergoing any significant change in MQ!
-While focusing on your spell, you may be tempted to close your eyes. This is ill advised, as it may lead to poor aim and missing your target.
