I've decided that I do in fact want to use the Downtime system.  It simplifies a few things and opens a huge list of options for players, you can make money with out a profession or help build something with ANY skill.  Took me a bit to figure out how using climb or swim could get you labor but then I realized it meant you climbing or swimming to something and doing work that required that, so using logic like that I'm fine with most everything on the downtime page.

I am building a spread sheet that will track the parties capital and in the future any teams/organizations and buildings the party gains control of, along with their respected income and upkeep costs.  I'll post a link to it on the campaign forum, hopefully by next secession.

May even track the capital sources so everyone can see who is adding more to the parties business the most.  I would find it hilarious if this campaign turns into a fantasy corporation game because of this.  Though I warn that I have plans for the party to do some travel for some time, but by the end you should have a few sites you can choose from to settle and have a decent pool of cash and capital.

Any skill could be employed in training people to use the skill. I know the skill training is subsumed in the game mechanics for leveling up, but in roleplaying people have to learn somehow.
