How to find a werebeast
« on: September 18, 2013, 08:31:51 pm »

So in my most recent adventure, my adventurer was doing pretty good, until he was felled by spinal damage. Now I probably need to find a werebeast to heal my wounds, but I have no idea how to do so. So, how would one find a werebeast?

Basically, you get a quest to kill a werebeast. This lets you track its lair, and once you find it, wait until it transforms and let it bite you. (Hopefully, it won't maul you to death on account of your crippleness.)

What this guy said. Make sure you have some companions, and hope you arrive on a day where they're just a naked peasant (i.e. not transformed).

Get quests from peasants. Sooner or later, they will say smth like "oh gos, there is one dwarf that assumes bestial form to terrorize us!". Remember the name. Find it on your questmap. Good luck in finding something really dangerous on site, not the pathetic were-mouse.

To get infected, you need full moon (so, only move on your were-quest on waxing or in the beginning of full). Companions are optional. Let it bite and latch on you (better finish it quickly after that).

Science is always important. But it needs more flaming cats. Can't we build bridge-based catapults and fling flaming cats at the dust and goo?

It's time for the ATHATH Death Counter to increase once more in celebration for the end of the world.

Alternatively to letting IT bite YOU, you can strip naked, then upon sighting the beast use DFhack to take control of it through the "adv-bodyswap force" command, then bite yourself in the arm or something. Then you only have to hope that your adventurer isn't so skilled that you can't land a hit before they hack your werebeast to pieces. But that they are still skilled enough to kill the werebeast so you can swap back and leave.

Actually, that adventurer just died. So I started another adventurer and got nerve damage in my foot during my first battle.
Typical...
I found a crutch, though.

Crutches are good. They actually make you stronger and faster than you were before. With experience, that is.
