So I've been working on this game using the GameMaker engine (I've actually not worked on it in about a year, because I've lost the drive for it) and I've decided I'll finally post it here for people to try and criticize.

It's a sort of strategy/puzzle game where there is an enemy base that continually spawns units that march toward you, and you have your own base, that can spawn units to march toward your enemies, and you beat the level when you tear down their base.
It's very simple, but gets complicated as you go along, as you have to deal with water hazards, mechanisms, and magma.

(Oh yeah, the multiplayer needs the other player to use the same keyboard as you, and it's bugged anyways.)

I'll take a look. Makes me feel guilty, I myself have a GM project I should be working on, but maybe critiquing this will atone. C'mon, download faster...

EDIT: Okay, seems like it could be fun, but it keeps crashing as my guys reach their castle

Played it, worked perfectly.

Remarks:

1) Archers are strong. They're the only unit capable of utilizing fortifications, stop when firing, and have a range advantage. Ammo is not a problem, as even with that they've a longer lifetime than melee units, which rarely manage 20 blows before being killed. They're also fast, especially when they run out of arrows. This allows the player a greater deal of control over his archers than other units, making them my preferred unit for all situations where I don't need a specialized unit. In fact, I only use melee units when they're trying to fire on an unit they can't reach.

2)Necromancer's aren't. They tend to die before the real slugfest commences, so at most you'll see one or 2 undead.

3) Having to build and maintain bridges adds an interesting level  of strategy.

4) I really like the idea of the elves. Honestly, I didn't expect them to bring their own forest and trees to hide in.

5) Sometimes you loose track of switches in the mess

1) Yeah, they are a bit overpowered, I need to tone them down a bit.

2) This also, I really need to add in the power for them to stop moving when close to enemies and corpses.

3) Thank you! When I first added them in, I didn't really think of it all that much, but I like how it turned out, it makes magma so much more irritating. Just wait until I add in a level that combines lever-breaking Trolls with a sea of magma.

4) Thanks! I actually wanted to add a lot more to them, but I get lazy, so this is what they have right now, I wanted the elves to be more than just arrow spammers, and giving them their own height advantage I think did a good job with it. I still have about 2-3 more units I want to add to the elves, though.

5) Yeah, it does get rather confusing, but I don't really have any good ideas of how to fix it.
