The most scientific discover I found, was that a person can suffer hypothermia and heat stroke, at the same time.

Why the heck did I take so long to pick this up? It's been a superb experience so far, the game really lives up to the tagline about it being the result of DF and Firefly having a lovechild.

My first colony though, hoo boy. It's gone fairly well, given that I picked an easy climate and took the second AI director on only Challenger difficulty, but there's been an absurd gender imbalance; the first male colonist I've got didn't get captured until two years after the landing out of a total of 9 people with skills worth not selling into slavery (and, amusingly enough, is completely useless except for 20 melee skill and a minor passion). Except for the braindamaged miner that I harvested for organs.

Do geothermal plants require open space around them to not catch fire? That's the only reason I could think of for why one spontaneously combusted twice.

I think DF could benefit from this game. Namely, the ability to harvest the organs from your dwarves.

Eheh.

They may need cooling. Afterall, its a hole to deep into the planet, and metal can only deal with so much heat.

Alternatively, open the up to outside, through tunnel or roof.
N/A to those rare ones that generate deep inside a mountain.

That counts as cooling in my book.

Doesn't even need that. I've got an in-mountain one running in 96 degree heat with nothing except a single circle of empty tiles around it.

I generally give geo thermal that much breadth for repairs.

So how do you solve prisoner cabin fever if you have to make sure they have an indoor enviroment to keep warm?

You recruit or sell them before then? And/or, give them better cells to offset the cabin fever penalty.

You can also make cells with an outdoor section IIRC.

I just keep my warden on them.  No matter what I do to them, my warden can always bring them back to 100 morale with a bit of time.

My understanding is that Prisoners aren't allowed to leave the prison designated area where their bed is. So in previous versions, I used to just have an outdoor area. But now, that'll make the entire prison count as Outside.
