Are there any plans to add military alerts?  One of the BIGGEST problems I have with the game, is every time an enemy raid starts, I have to pause the game and spend 10 minutes finding my colonists, remembering which ones are good shooters, which ones have guns, which ones are pacifists, and then put each and every one of them to draft and a location.  There used to be a mod that let you assign colonists to positions and automatically send them back to the same position, but without that function it becomes really frustrating to have any force over like 5 colonists...

Played a little, seems fun. Now just waiting for rebellious prisoners and for a way to preserve food (salt, dehydration, high tech solutions). Why no quality levels for ranged weapons though?

Food can be preserved by using coolers (air conditioners) to make a walk-in freezer.

Yeah, but I thought that only slows down the spoilage, doesn't remove it. I'm talking about processing food to last forever, but losing some appeal and nutrition on the way.

That's easy enough to mod in, at least.  Survival meals don't expire, so all you'd need was a quick recipe to produce survival meals, or something similar.  Although honestly, I always have such a surplus of food that it's never an issue.

As long as your freezer is below 0°C, the food will be completely frozen and won't spoil. I'm not sure if this has a negative effect on meal quality.

My first idea was to make a heater hallway and literally burn my enemies.  See if I can't just avoid these whole 'defensive structures' and resort to good old boiling the skin.

You can change the target temperature of a room pretty easily. This needs further study!

Combine with the Power Switches mod - turn heaters on when enemies arrive.  I wonder if you can melt/burn clothes and weapons...

Sounds like we need to apply some Dwarven Science to this.

That sounds exactly like that one model of trap hall that locks invaders inside, showers them with magma, and leaves all their metal equipment sitting on the grates after the fleshy bits have melted and the magma has drained out. Except without the magma.

Only on Bay12 could this be thought up.

And that's why I love this goddamn forum.

Geothermal steam vents seem to be very good at heating a room by themselves very very quickly.  So we could at least have magma indirectly involved.
