Doesnt help after the DF-9, Starbound, etc early access abandonment fiascos it makes it really hard to justify paying full price for a game that might not even get finished

Why do people keep bringing out Starbound for an abandon game? do people even read dev blogs anymore?

As for the game itself, its a highly functional alpha with lots of exposed data for easy modding. People added complex body systems to add more of a realistic health care, AI death bots from hell, super weapons.

I personally think that you should only buy any early access/beta/alpha/whatever game if you'd be fine with paying for the game as it is at the time of purchase, with no future content. Judge things based on what they are right now, not what they're promised to be later.

My point about it still being in development wasn't that you have to worry about it being abandoned, my point is that the game and modding capabilities it already has already makes it worth paying the full price for the game, the fact that it's continuing to improve is just a bonus, a massive bonus.

I really don't know what to think about paying for a game where people suggest me to get the (free) mods to make the better/worthy - why not just implement all that stuff into the game you pay for instead of having to hassle with third-party stuff. By all means this isn't meant offensive, I really don't know if that is a positive or negative aspect.

I absolutely love Rimworld. I bought it 2 weeks ago and have spent more than 30 hours on it. It's quite challenging though lacking in endgame technology (apart from building your escape ship). Considering the developer is maintaining a daily change log  and frequently puts out major patches, I feel like it's completely worth my money. Some people might think otherwise but whatever

Another thing too is that he can absorb mods into the maingame too. People can call it lazy but if its a popular enough mod why wouldn't you add it? He gets permissions from the authors to add their content so its a win-win on both sides, he can code less and modders got what they wanted in their game.

Pronlem is, most of the time their mod is also part of their *life* i dont know how to say it properly, ill go on extreme but youll understand what i mean. Long time ago i made a very good mod for a game that went very popular very quick ( good old days eh.. ), ppl wanted the mod to be incorporated in the base game, on one side i felt very proud on the other hand... having the mod included in the base game most of the time means loosing control of the mod. With all the time i spent in the mod i considered it my little *baby*.

I know thats a bit extreme to call that baby but being french i cant figure out a way to explain it properly. I hope you understand!

Nah it's fine calling your mod your baby and given the drama that seems to develop around some mods and their creators... It can be rather apt at times.

And by all means just say no, no one should be forced to add their own code or work harder.

The thing about implementing mods into the main game is that not everyone loves a certain mod. That's the amazing things about mods. They're completely, 100% optional. Want to replace everything with MLP-related stuff? Sure! Not your cup of your tea? Sure!

But with less extreme examples, it still remains the same. Most mods are done with one sub-mindset of the certain game they're for, while said game encompasses the entire 'sub-mindset'

The game's a bit costy but look real cool. Is there any good review or whatever that shows if the game's worth to get? What do you guys say?

I pirate most games. I absolutely hate buying games because none of them meet expectations. I have 1/3rd the purchasing power of an American. This is the only game I've ever crowdfunded.

I bought this game including the prototype pack. First version wasn't worth it, but the recent updates are definitely worth it. It has a lot of the drama and morally questionable values of DF without all the micromanagement and clunky interface.
