Must be thinking of a game other than Rimworld then.

Could've sworn I read about a Space-DF-like on these very forums around a month or so ago, it was an early access game where the ASCII version was free but the graphical tileset you had to buy.
KeeperRL?
Oh yeah, thats the one.

Space.... underground caverns... both are dark and scary

You have to pay money for graphical tilesets?

man, thats money grubbing.

how is that money grubbing? You think the creator should just make it and get nothing in return?

Its not money grubbing, its more along the lines of paying the bills.  Not everyone has a non-minimum wage job.

And if you are gonna complain about people charging for a graphical tileset, why don't you take the time to make a free one?  /s

The fact that he is charging for a graphical tileset makes it sound like the game willnot let people install their own, and if that is true than it is money grubbing.

Unless the game is free, then its just odd.

Considering the game is fairly low key and he IS offering a free version no matter what, I don't see the problem. The dev already posted on the threads so probably knows the Bay12 community would not mind ASCII.

I can't understand this logic at all...you must have a fit when games cost to buy...which is like every game out there

Is it ASCII, I dunno I haven't played with Keeper RL for a while, I know the early alphas were ASCII and then there were sprites, is it back to ASCII for free or just old sprites?

I dont like games that say"Here, pay this much for the game, but if you want this little thing than pay this much more" when its for simpler things. Particually when there are some peole who absolutely require the second thing to do things.

However, as the game itself is free, that makes it more bearable.

The game is free...the ASCII version

The Tileset version costs

you don't pay "extra" for tiles. You get them or you don't

I'mat 70 days on challenging Cassandra Classic and the game is just dragging on. Tempted to start over and use Randy or increase the difficulty. I want epic deaths, not slow ones due to fire, damaged power stuff, key fighters losing their limbs.

Also how do you install prosthetics? How do I pry organs or limbs from someone's corpse? Where do I get peg legs?
