If someone loses a lung, you now have a spare your doctor can install.

Also, don't buy lungs/any other organ(s) for your colonists, unless it's a kidney. If you have Expanded Prosthetics and Organ Engineering mod installed, you can buy/craft synthetic organs which improve some stat(s) (Synth heart gives a bonus to blood pumping, liver helps with metabolism, etc) of your colonist(s). If you capture a prisoner (both vanilla and modded game), you can harvest his/her organs and transplant it into the body of one of your colonist, but be careful: Non-psychotic colonists will get "We are such inhumane monsters!!1" penalty to the mood.

Word of warning: There's currently a bug with the Hospitality mod that causes the relocate furniture action to make the target furniture object disappear.

Just got 310 uranium and 140 plasteel from a item cache only guarded by tortoises... But... I only sent two guys, they can't carry it all. What should I do? Can I come back, or set this up as a camp to ship it back one shipment at a time? There's also a ton of jade in the walls, hadn't seen that in my place.

Welp, everyones dead. Some nutjobs with a mortar started bombing everyone and the guy guarding them took four sniper bullets and a ton of heavy smg bullets without problem, nothing we could do. Didn't have time to get the triple rocket we had to fire before a shell landed on them. Time to start again!

Lots of bedrest can save people if all you've got is some herbal meds.
If you don't even have that, well... RIP Your Colony :P
Press F to pay respects.

...Actually it didn't go quite so badly; by carefully rationing the meagre scraps of herbal medicine we did have my two most-skilled doctors were able to save all but two of my colonists- sadly, one of those was my beloved, bloodthirsty shotgun specialist, who turned out to be rather long in the tooth, biologically.
She didn't exactly die, though. As her illness progressed she went berserk, and I had another colonist arrest her. As they left her cell/psychoid orchid, they left the doors open allowing her to escape. I know not where she went, but those pawns that knew her haven't suffered a "friend died" moodlet so I like to imagine she's still out there living on somewhere.

The other un-saveable pawn was her mother, who our chief doctor put out of her misery with a few bullets.
The doctor's a psychopath who cares not for other's opinions, anyway, so that makes her perfect for the job. Especially if she ever botched a surgery, though I don't believe she has, to my knowledge.

Even one of the affected prisoners survived! The other one I released, but he didn't make it off the map before collapsing. Conveniently, he fell right next to an existing graveyard, so we simply dug a grave beneath him as he lived his last few agonizing hours. Actually maybe both sick prisoners died, I can't find the other one anywhere. Been a while since I played. Oh well. *shrug*

Why kidneys then

Kidneys are tied to blood filtration stat, which helps with fighting diseases.

There's a bladicorn in my dining hall. It's just sitting there. Menacingly. I built walls over the day to keep it locked in. How do I go about killing or taming it?

Why buy them and not harvest or manufacture them, as opposed to other organs?

I meant that if you can't harvest or manufacture them, and one of your colonists has only one kidney, then you should buy them ASAP. You don't want someone to succumb to the plague.

EDIT: Forgot about "to" between "succumb" and "the plague".

Pretty sure that's why there's TVs in real life hospital rooms.

A huge pack of manhunting fennec foxes overwhelmed my spare forces (the rest were on recon mission). The fighting spread to the entrance to my severely overcrowed cave prison, causing the door to be opened long enough for several prisoners to try and make for their freedom, only to run straight into the still furious fennec pack.

There's now a pile of dead and dying prisoners outside of and in the doorway.

Traded a ton of stuff for a minigun, decided to give it a shot... I mean, it killed the rabbits and deer around the bear I was aiming at, but it only hit him once... Thank god for the assault rifle and shotgun guys.

Yea, the Minigun is... well.. crap.
Forced minimum spread, so you'll never get good enough to make it effective; rather low damage, so the few times you hit it hits poorly; long warmup and cooldown, so you're extra vulnerable after not hitting the things charging you.
Basically, it's a scaled-up-yet-even-worse uzi, from before they did a few minor buffs on the uzi.
Tynan should rename it to the Mini(mally effective)gun.

Although, I guess it's the quickest way to try and trigger a herd retaliation attack. :P
