Or you could make him miserable and hope he leaves peacefully.

Alternatively use him as a diplomat and send him to talk down some raiding pirates.

Funny story. Heard about game from housemate. Checked out the homepage. For a whim, went "i wonder if there's a page on the forums about it?"
Turns out there is, and the OP is The Guy. So. Yeah. Buying.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Get comms array, wait for pirates, capture them and sell them.

OP was on hiatus for a year, makes sense. I'll expect him to resume checking in every now and then, he is a pretty awesome human being.

Is anyone getting infestations right inside their bases? That is frigging annoying.

Yep. And after the death of the place, savescummed and got another one in the same spot. Then died again, savescummed, and got a crashed ship in the center of the base. Which I took out.

Hence my slightly salty post earlier today.

Hmm, I haven't seen any trade ships. Is it bugged or am I just unlucky? Researched comm console and installed trade beacons, nothing.

Ah! Nice to see you dorfs are chatting up the game again :)

And yes, it does seem the bugs are rather difficult. That said, there are some very effective strategies. You have time to build up, plan, and mine perfectly, so there's no need to just rush into the hive. Try fire, trap lines, turret lines, etc.

However, if you're gonna just rush in, use melee weapons - they beat guns in close quarters.

Might nerf them, but I also want people to learn the strats because they're definitely beatable.

:) I just wanted to try the new version, and ended playing 6 hours straight.
This game is now (well it has always been) very good. - Thank you Tynan!

I get the feeling that it is made by someone who enjoys plaing it ;)

A bug hive spawned in my infirmary shortly after a battle which meant most of my guys were healing up in there... needless to say, the colony did not survive.

Oh hey, Tynan is posting here again, good to see ya back!  Enjoying the new version so far.

Most recent base has pretty much gone through the entire population of colinists like 3 times.  People either die to cougar ambushes, getting dragged off by raiders or any number of horrid things.   I started with a doctor but failed to realize the dude was 80 years old.

Naturally the first medical task in the colony at all was him having a heart attack and dropping dead because nobody else is even remotely competent at doctoring.  Then there was a gut worm infestation, but that solved itself by everyone infected being killed and eaten by cougars.   So now it's their problem.  And now a trade caravan showed up in the dead of winter, and their muffalo ate all the remaining outdoors crops, raided the hydroponics room, eating everything there, and then finally raided the freezer eating all the plants there.   I think trade caravans are more lethal than raiders at this point.

Still having a blast though.
