Kester cursed as Carsinque caught on fire from the lava ball, looked up at the hatch as the Argoth continued bounding towards the woods. One leg started running out of rhythm with the others. Another stopped completely, locking up in a lifted position.
:"
No, no no no, come on, Greeny, you can do it...just a little farther..."
The pilot urged his Argoth forward, wrestling with the controls to keep it moving, as the fire began to near him. Kester could hear the crackle of the flames as the cockpit began to heat up. He cursed louder and tried to keep it going forward, but a third leg malfunctioned, catching on the ground, twisting the Argoth to one side. The usually-cocky pilot cried out in frustration as he tried and failed to bring it back to a stable position, Carsinque instead tripping over it's own legs, falling onto it's side as it sliced a gash through the forest. One of the legs tore off, hooked to the ground, as the head of the construct whiplashed back and forth, throwing Kester from side to side. Thankfully, the dirt and muck kicked up by this seemed to have put the fire out, but Kester wasn't responsive enough to notice yet. He unstrapped himself from the chair, cradling his head where it had slammed into the hard wood, feeling stickiness when he touched the back of his head. Standing up shakily, he climbed out through the hatch, now in the wall rather than the ceiling, and surveyed the damage. The forest was wrecked, with trees tossed about like toothpicks. A great deal was burnt and savaged from the blast it'd endured, and parts of the mech were wrenched in ways that could not mean good things.
Suddenly, Kester stumbled as the Argoth shifted, damaged chassis groaning under it's own weight, and he ducked back inside moments before a 3 foot thick tree fell where he had been standing just a second ago, blocking his way out of the cockpit.
:"
...Shit."
