minimum requirements for future update?
« on: September 14, 2013, 12:20:36 pm »

hey folks, was just curious if this was answered at some point. I see that there's a cool amount of stuff being added with the new revision. My question is: Will it require a substantial amount more processing/memory/etc. to run?

The current build works well enough on my laptop, although with some lag here and there. There seems to be an option to increase embark size which would obviously rise computer needs, but otherwise does anyone know about the rest of the features?

I don't think Toady has said anything on the matter.  Adventure mode is probably going to require a somewhat better computer since things like more accurate vision and hearing checks were put in, but just how much of a difference it will make remains to be seen.  Fort mode is probably not going to run significantly slower, since comparatively few changes were put in for it.

Probably not.

The amount of processing power that DF needs is more closely tied to number of items it has to keep track of, not the amount those objects can do.
