A Barrel of Liquid[10]
« on: September 12, 2013, 11:48:13 am »

Exactly what the title says.  Some merchants came by and tried to sell me a barrel containing, and I quote, "Liquid [10]."

What?

Modded game? Sounds like something that could result from something modded in.

Also, those traders need to quit bringing useless barrels of blood and ichor, which takes up space that would otherwise be filled with booze.

Oh, wasn't sure as I haven't seen that, or at least i havent been looking that closely. Does it have any value to it? Could just be the liquid state of something that didn't get a name for that state.

Or maybe it's puréed vermin remains, no idea.

I've seen liquid barrels before.  It happens in unmodded games, but rarely.  The liquid seems to have a negligible value, either 0☼ or 1☼ and of course stacks.  I suspect if you used tricks to dump the contents of the barrel out of it, it would become a contaminant, like blood or gnomeblight, rather than an object, though I have not tested this.

That's usually the case with liquid contained in a barrel or bucket.

Interesting science could be had by dumping said glob into a water source, and observing the effects of ingestion.
Probably none, but it would still be amusing to have your dwarves ingesting "liquids" of unknown nature or origin.

It's just bizarre.  Oh well, I didn't buy it and they left.

It's the stuff that's pulled out of a creature when it gets a blood-sucking attack used on it.

There may be some way to get the game to recognise this subtance as something other than generic liquid if you're that interested in the potential uses of the contents of a giant mosquito's stomach.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

This, more or less. It is caused somehow by the [SPECIALATTACK_SUCK_BLOOD] token on a creature that the trading civ has access to.
