Unbridged Fords, keep the defensive line with Mick's spearmen. Rolling Kegs and Serrated Knives, fall back and charge again into them, or if that's not feasible, try to crush the enemy against the defensive line. Leave a route for them to retreat though; don't need them desperate. Hidden Brambles, make your way around the the back of the enemy and charge into the back of the Human Spearmen, then retreat and repeat. Mocking Ravens move to 4,5, and fire into the rear of the Neko Swordsmen. Try to stay out of sight to avoid a counter charge or fire from the Avians. If I can't shoot from there, move to 5,6 instead.

Not much in terms of actual battle movements this time around.

Battlefield, turn 4
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

What Happened
Friendly
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Enemy
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Condition changes
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
   -Disadvantage in combat (morale-)
   -Reinforcements have arrived (morale+)

Combat Rounds
Mick's Spear 2, Axe vs Enemy A, 5 rounds
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Militia make for poor line infantry. The combined efforts of both Mick's spearmen, axemen, and Rolep's forces' pincer attack means the heavily equipped humans are being grinded down in a big way. Special mention goes to the axemen that tried to mimick the throwing axe Nekos and managed to hit the Squad shield. While aiming in an entirely different direction.

Mick's Spear 1, Axe vs Enemy B, 5 rounds
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The lighter armored elves took some harder hits from Mick's attacks but by god did they give what they took in spades. Even when faced with a terrible situation they rallied and hit, hard.

Mick's Bow 1, 2 vs All engaged enemies, 5 round total
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
vs C
It's more "Neko vs Wall" than anything else this time around; the archers were mildly effective at best while the Nekos tried to climb the walls again. A few made it past but they got shot on landing (one tried to jump on an archer like some Ezio guy, dunno who that is).

vs A, B, D, E
Not a good showing for Mick's Archer 1 squad. They...came very close to doing friendly fire damage, and in general didn't do anything other than really annoy the enemy with poorly made shots.
Archer 2 did marginally better though.
Highlights: Archer 1 shooting so bad their bows exploded, not sure how.
A couple of Enemy Squad B (that's the light elf spears) tried to be a hero with very flashy dodging, and dodged into a lot of shots. Idiots.

Kwaa-naa's Lancer 1 vs Enemy A,B,C,E, 2 rounds
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Much facestabbing ensued. Kwaa's lancers flat out ignored an order to rest and swooped among the enemy ranks, attacking targets of opportunity.

Kwaa-naa's Archer 1, 2 vs Enemy D (Avian Bows)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
While Kwaa's archers were told to just rain fire on the enemies, they were interrupted by enemy avian archer fire. Unfortunately this was a huge affront to their Avian senses and the two groups started an air-to-air battle. A large avian air battle with bows and foul language. And shrieking.
Sadly this meant Kwaa's Archers got no real work done.

Kwaa-naa's Unarmed
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
They flew out of the battlefield in order to carry more boulders, dodging stray arrow fire left and right and generally being annoyed at how bad the archers are on both sides.
They did pick up boulders though. A few of them felt like they needed to carry a massive boulder to toss, but a shot from the enemy archers quickly told them why it was a horrible idea.

Rolep
All melee units
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Rolep's squad action is what arguably threw the enemy lines into disarray. Their flanking action forced the enemy to divide their attention, and every time an enemy got distracted there would be a FACESTAB waiting for them. or a BACKSTAB, but that doesn't sound nearly as gallant.

Mocking Ravens vs Enemy C, 3 rounds
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
After maneuvering into positon the Mocking Ravens shot the Nekos in the back the best they could; thanks to the squad shield they didn't worry about friendly fire and just fired at random.

Round Conclusion
Mick's unit:
 Spear 1, 2
 Axe
    Sustained casualties
   Sustained friendly fire

Kwaa-naa's unit
 Lancer 1
    Sustained casualties
   Sustained friendly fire

Rolep's unit
 Rolling Kegs, Hidden Brambles, Unbridged Fords, Serrated Knives
    Sustained casualties

Enemy
 Squad A,B,C sustained heavy casualties
 Squad E sustained major casualties

Other
 Kwaa's Archer 1, 2 and Enemy D squad are engaged in a large scale duel in the sky. Expect arrows randomly falling everywhere.

Reason why Rolep's unit was doing special instead of rolled damage: Since the orders were to push the enemy into Mick's line, that's what they did. Plus I got lazy. :D
============================
Your orders, Captains.
(Next turn occurs Monday evening)
((Turn will also resolve once all the participants have submitted their turns))

I'm thinking the battles in the future will be more...generalized.

Y'know, after review, I'm pretty sure we can call Trial combat as "finished". All that's really left is mopping up.

Sorry Elephant Charge. :|

Post battle:

================================================
Back to our regularly scheduled programming

Late Spring, Year 1
Turns for this season takes up 2 weeks.

Changes
At this point, all basic actions are considered natural
As in, hunters will hunt, farmers will farm, builders will build, and so on.
Thus, only address them when you want them to change something (as in, hunters go exclusively after large game)
Food is now generic
   As in the only thing represented are if there's enough income for everyone, and how much is stored.
All materials are now generic
   Stuff like fur, leather, etc are implied to be enough for the turn. There are still hard caps on equipment produced because rules.
All parties are considered "Guilds"
 In the sense that, instead of having a hard limit on who you have and what they do, your specializations are now "fields" in your guild. You can do things outside your field of expertise but you get no bonus for it.
 Basically you do have a possee but they're now...ghost possee? I dunno. Something like that.
 Actions that would require a squad to perform is automatically assumed to have rounded up enough men for the job.
Spell research
  Instead of "it still needs this much time to complete" it is now "it needs this component to complete".

The overall gameplay doesn't change; you just don't need to pay attention to inconsequential minute detail anymore (well, until it happens to be food and you starve to death, but that's down the line).

Because trial combat has effectively ended...

==================================
Event

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

What should (you) do?
Also, post any specialization changes you might want (skill will be preserved, not that it matters from the player side :D)

I want 11 archers to become spearmen, and 7 spearmen to become wizards.

(someone please have a good look at the boat. Avians aren't going to do that anytime soon)

Continue general helping out. With the experience in combat we should try to improve our lances.

Builders, Gatherers, Orchadeers help build more Communes.

Everyone else does there thang (as usual, smoking whatever's caught by the fishers.)

Not sure what you mean by if we want to change specialisation. However... I might want to go Builder, if that's the case, since I've been doing a lot more of that than fishing.

Ummm...everyone just do normal things, I suppose. Carpenters work on processing our lumber supplies into planks and the like with tools such as stone knives or the tools the guys brought. Ranchers work with the Trappers. Brewers see if you can persuade some of the others into helping you make a brewery, or even do it with the good we've gathered and baskets/buckets.

@Maxinum McDreich
I mean as in "I want Carpenters instead of Lumberjacks" type of thing.
You already have builders as a minor specialization, so no fuss there. (they'll get skill slower but it's more of a flavor thing)

@All
Henceforth it shall be implied that you will have enough men for your jobs, so no need to worry about "I want (some specific) value" of people
Except during military. Levies are dependent on local population and shit.
(so having schools teach people to be mages = more mages during levies)

@cheesemcmuffin88
Because we're not persian. :3
(I kid, I kid; your weavers will be making shields)

@Elephant Parade
Yes.
Although you're gonna be a tad more specific about "improve weapons and armor": improve what? (Weapon attack, Armor Weight, stuff like that. pick one for each field)

@All
I'm not taking orders for the turn goddammit (although your participation makes me feel happy and wanted)
Just the "what do we do about the boat".

============
Just as a heads up, this is what NPCs will do without player input.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Once again they do this by default.
Your orders are registered though not carried out yet, and they will override those default orders for the next turn.

the Boat event will be resolved tomorrow after I get home, or if I get 3 plans of action tonight.

If there is such a thing as a veto, Mick uses it here.

Reasoning:
''We have already upset one potentially friendly town. What you suggest is an act of war, NOT to mention out immediate threat: Raiders. They're causing havoc to those more advanced than us, so staying friends with the other towns is vital.''

Actions: Hail the ship to ask to open diplomatic relations. Request the knowledge for tools that could aid us, whilst divulging what we know of these raiders themselves, and of the other town. For good measure, restore their larders.
