no more than a norm, but psychics are easier for psychic people to detect and you need to be a strong psychic to do telekinesis at all

Considering the confederate bastards have siege tanks and how often they splash kill allies It isn't very uncommon to be under friendly fire

edit so common that the game itself lampshades it
