my plans are to play me some dwarf fortress :P and try to conquer the world if it's possible.  And to those who say they're gonna wait for the "bugs" to be ironed out, DF doesn't have bugs, only temporary awesome features.

34.02 was released because 34.01 had a bug that would permanently corrupt your saves after playing it for too long, ruining any chance of long-running forts, as 34.02 broke save compatibility to enforce the fix.

Not that awesome ;)

No, no, it was a feature... it was, uh... apocalypse scenarios. The world ended which is why the saves corrupted and the compatability was to enforce this world-ending scenario.

Totally. That's it. That's the awesome feature there.

dreams, behaviors, it begins! creature, unit, individual? story, simulator, game? aspirations, hopes, opinions, disagreement, conflict, oh wondrous conflict! How you've been missing from the game, but step 2 and 3, both in the new version, oh YES! Differences in culture, that's here now, land disputes, that's coming soon, differences in opinion, coming with it! Stories are made with conflict, conflict is generated by people with differing ideas on actions that should be taken in certain situations, and that's what's coming! The first step to that bit, coming soon! 40.01, 39.01, big, big update, new update, shiny? No, but certainly the best piece of software ever made, soon, culture differences, individual differences, both still! Exciting times, modding times, playing times, observing times, understanding times, find descriptions, update wiki, give life to units! yesYESYES

Putnam, Modder has gone stark raving mad!

Mien Gott... I would be stoked about the update if JUST the personality thing went in.

This changes everything! Political !!SCIENCE!! is going on the back burner for now, science must be concentrated on the new personality system. He mentions dwarves have certain behaviors as well as dreams, so can we change those dreams and behaviors? Could dwarven propoganda be a thing? Conditioning? This could dramatically change the way dwarves live in the fortress environment.

Ohhh man. Personality. Yessss. :D

But anyway, the first thing I'm going to do is gen some crazy-arsed world, make an adventurer and delve into whatever political nonsense is going on. And hopefully raze a few kingdoms along the way.

Well I was planning to jump into Adventure (which I think I've spent about 0.00001% of my DF play-time on to date) but with latest log entry I'm considering just starting up a fort and reading the personality pages for a while and structuring my fort and its functions around the dwarves' personalities.

I'm thinking of making a !SCIENCE! fort which is dedicated to testing fish restocking by doing an aggressive fishing program. Not sure what the best embark would be to test it out though.

I may actually try to play adventure mode, lol. I've literally never even tried it.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I'd like to play a bit in Adventure mode first just to stir up all the various factions and generally make the world a more interesting place. If the new Adventure mode is anything like the old one an adventurer won't last too long anyway.

Once the worst of the bugs are fixed I'm going to play tons of adventure mode. :P

After I get bored of that I'll gen a world and start from the earliest year possible and build up the dwarven civilization(s)

I'm going to make a chain of powerful dwarven fortresses filled to the brim with unbeatable legendary champions clad in Adamantine- each hailed as a killer of a thousand demons.

Then I'm going to make a human adventurer, walk up to one, and poke them with a spear. I'll time myself to see how quickly I die.

There is currently a minor problem in that the veteran demons fighting in the corpse factory have failed to die in the 2 year battle and have become legendary unkillable gods of war. I may have misjudged this possible outcome.
