What are your plans once the new version is released?
« on: September 04, 2013, 05:40:50 am »

The new version of the game is closer to release today than it was yesterday, or the day before. We're gonna have to do something with it soon. Or soon enough. Or in a few months. Maybe another year.
But still! What are you planning on doing with it in adventure mode, fortress mode or even modding?

I'm planning on a little modding-project. With the new sites being added I'll have a chance to do something I've wanted to do for a while that I haven't felt would work effectively in this game version. Basically, the idea is to make more diverse cultures. I'll have multiple entities for each major race, each living in different biomes and site-types, having different clothing and weapon types (and materials), as well as a few more customised entities that I want to add that I already have in my current game (modified gnomes and trolls). So basically you'll get a civ of elves that live in towns and have access to metals, are less naturalistic and spiritual as their forest-dwelling counterparts, humans that live in mountainhomes and gnomes that are gnomes.

Might also have a tree-dwelling elf-fortress for the hell of it.

Climbing, jumping and stealth are going to be in this next version, right? I'm going to grind all of those and become Bat-Dwarf. I have the feeling companions aren't going to be very good at climbing though.

As well as non-lethal combat, I believe. You must hunt down dwarves with a high comedian skill and bring them in to face justice.

Since I exclusively play fort mode due to a lack of adventure mode knowledge, I'll probably just spend a while bringing my mods up to date with the new game and exploring the changes to fort mode.  The new tree cutting should be fun, but I'm a touch worried about the combat changes and how they might shake up fort mode militaries.  That should be fun too though once I figure it all out.

I may even try picking up adventure mode again since so much was added to it in this version.

Continue to not give a damn about fortress mode and revel in the best adventure mode revision yet.

Procastrinate playing it, because the next version is going to be that much better.

Stress test the adventure mode politicking' and succession. We know that you can start working for a petty lord or some such, and that you can depose them in favor of another candidate who is already trying to take the position. I assume you could then do tasks for the new management. If this extends to dwarf and elf sites (I refuse to assist goblins) the player could completely reshape the world with a demigod adventurer and a cadre of companions. Maybe even favor one group heavily so one family ends up in charge of all of the dwarf sites, or put two people that don't like each other in power and see what happens. The possibilities are nearly infinite!

Bonus points for uniting the entire world under one ruler. (is that even possible?)
And then murdering him.

Try and get my default mods sorted, and sorted in a way that doesn't inexplicable crashes.

Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

This. With emphasis on dwarven military. And SCIENCE!!

Besides the part about adventure mode. I absolutely love adventure mode.
