I can tell you what I'm not going to be doing, and that's leaving the house.

Probably fight the urge to visit the site until I have finished all of my exams this Summer.

Make several multi-fort deathtraps, using dwarf labor for defense only. I do have one other insane plan which does not rely on DF2014, but it doesn't kill anyone unless an adventurer decides to go bathing. Anyway, what I plan to use dwarves for the defense and upkeep of is a series of really huge magma weapons. A 2x2 embark covered almost entirely by a series of pumps going down to the magma sea to supply the precious liquid and a 2x2 to accelerate it to really goddamn huge speeds using a bunch of pressurizer towers.

Use a tower full of pumps. It artificially pressurizes it. See the magma lava landmine topic for the details.

wait until the version is stable (no fatal crashing bugs) before experimenting.

Update various softcore mods I've made this version, then dabble in trying to play a fort longer than 2 in-game years.

Eventually I'll have an epic 100+ year old fortress. Should be even more rewarding with all the new changes.

Create an adventurer. Go into a bar. Play around with the new loyalty system and political/historical stuff by whacking someone in the face and seeing what happens.

Does anyone have a clue when it's coming out? There seems to be a lot of hype about it lately. DF2012 has gotten a little old, eh? Wasn't it something about the bug list?

Godspeed, Toady. May your bugs be but snails and your dwarves full of ale.

A long time ago, when I started playing, we used to have threads dedicated to our most evil deeds.
Most of them are deleted now and lost forever because of a person we do not talk about.

Those threads contained such gems as "break all bones in a elf wife, then make her watch as I beat up her husband with the corpse of their child. All the while imagining the plight the poor elves are in".
With the new system we can skip the imagine part.

So to answer the question:
I'll stress-test the new emotion system to find the highest trauma:time ratio possible.
And maybe start a few brawls.

Has that ever happened before?

So you could throw a head into a room to freak people out, which is cool, but you can also throw a single tooth, and it would work too, if the person is dead.
I'll see whether impaling dead bodies on spikes Dracula-style will deter invaders and thieves in Fortress Mode.
And whether a stockpile of dead bodies has the same effect. I mean, why spend extra time throwing captives onto spikes when you can just lay them out on the ground and let goblins' morale drop as they wade through the bones?

I'm going to finally learn how to use those minecarts.
Because, what better defense against climbing invaders, than having lead minecarts run along the edges of anything climbable.
