Build a wall across an entire continent to impede the advancement of enemy territory and see how the new code for sacking towns and changing site claims handles it. (It probably won't even try, just consider player-made, retired fortresses -- if not all fortresses -- off limits or something, but I'll find out through !!science!!.)

Also ask players of Adventure Mode to get back stolen artifacts for me, because inventing new manners of collaborating in playing DF is cooler than an actual multiplayer mode ever could be.

I have an idea. Let's play a game where you win by being as quiet as possible.
I get it, it's one of those games where losing is fun!
I spend most of your dimension's time outside of your dimension. I can't guarantee followup or followthrough on any comments, ideas, or plans.

Or you could ask Fortress Mode players to make some stealable artifacts for your adventurer to quest after. Artifacts that you can use, not schist crowns or gem beds.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

Well, if that's what we're waiting for, then I think it's worth it.

So you are the only person here, who's not waiting for the release?

For me I'm going to sneak around in adventure mode a bit, then my dwarves will pulp some undead, I was always annoyed by the infinite raisings.

I'm going to use the new stealth and combat mechanics to assassinate people. I love stealth games so I'm gonna knock guards unconscious and sneak past them to get to their leader. Too bad we don't have disguises or distractions yet.

Also gonna check out the new sites, I wanna see what those demon sites are about :D

Wait for bugfixing releases.  Hats off to all the people wiling to play the new version right of the bat, but I'm going to wait a bit before getting invested in a fort.

Definitely going to mess around in Adventure mode and likely help some demons paint their walls red, with my adventurers innards of course.

Climbing, jumping and stealth are going to be in this next version, right? I'm going to grind all of those and become Bat-Dwarf. I have the feeling companions aren't going to be very good at climbing though.
As well as non-lethal combat, I believe. You must hunt down dwarves with a high comedian skill and bring them in to face justice.

Do eet!

As an aside, do people have plans yet regarsing what SCIENCE they'll be doing? Experiments on the new dwarven brain?

Hoping to have a series of games where I play my dwarven civ, not just the individual forts. Start new outposts and retire them once they're safe. Also extend road/tunnel networks. And at least one obsidian-cast bridge across a narrow sea strait! With the main surface fort at the center tower of the bridge, and access to underground areas in the pillars.

edited for typos and unfinished sentence that I couldn't correct earlier due to my android phone sometimes hiding the bottom row of the window, if it can't show all the text in the edit window at once.

Part of my plan may or may not be hide in a bunker for 3 months until the game works.

I will wait for bugfixed version, then search if Toady fixed bugs with crossbows, creature growth, farming issues, bin stockpiling ect.
Then I go into Adventure mode and later Fort mode.

.34.01 had surprisingly few new bugs if I recall correctly.  There was only one crippling problem related to workshops that couldn't be fixed with just updating to the newest version, I believe.  Still, I'd be very pleased to see some of the newly discovered (and some of the much older lingering) bugs fixed in the point releases following it.

This does make me wonder how long it'll be before DFHack works with the new version.  I tried to keep myself from using DFHack for as long as possible to avoid becoming dependent on it, but I've learned to rely on some of the little tools like cleanowned.  I also have a few personal scripts that I'd like to see working as soon as possible.

Dorms for everybody then, until DFHack starts working...

It'll be handy to have DFHack to check if existing bugs will have been fixed. The growth bug is a rather nasty one, but can at least be checked for without an external utility.

From just listening to a few episodes of DF Talk after a long hiatus, there really is no limitation to the brothers' imagination.  I'm not worried about new features after the next release.  I'd much rather see them focus on upgrading their toolkit to include 64-bit processing.  I have 12 gig's of memory waiting to spawn a few thousand dwarves.  If they wait too much longer, the gap is going to be even larger. :)

btw, 3 gigabytes of memory can handle at least 3000 dwarves well enough
