How big a bonus do I get on speech and barter in total including charisma? Also do they stack?

I'm not sure what you mean by that exactly.

Well, what have we learned...

~There was a prison break from an NCR facility.
~The prisoners are dangerous, on the loose, and stole a bunch of dynamite. They apparently have firearms.
~No one can leave, via orders from the local garrison. Who also seems reluctant to hire anyone to deal with the problem.
~A merchant is stuck here until the problem is handled. He has 'special' things to sell.
~The wonders of rank and file make it difficult to determine who or what is actually handling this problem and who to speak to.

IMO, we should find out whose really running the town.

Like Pat said, we didn't choose to stop here, you tossed us here Anin. I feel we're all going to run out 'explore the town' options in a few turns.

People, including you, are allowed to leave back down the road to the South towards Jean, as the first Trooper you ran into mentioned.

It's just strongly recommended that they don't unless they have to. (Especially now that night has fallen.)

Finding out who's running it is why I wanted to speak with the Casino boss, especially after seeing that chip.
Money talks and he has the most money in town probably not to mention friends in Vegas, seems like the logical place to start.

I meant for rolls how big a bonus does it give, I want a rough idea of how good I am compared to normal people so I know how far I can push my luck, I have one more idea unless I can find the boss but it's risky.

Basically, a d100 is rolled, the lower the better - And your speech skill represents that base number you have to hit to be successful - though it's usually modified by a number of bonuses and penalties.

So for the easier stuff, you'll usually end up with somewhere between a 61 and 90 percent chance of success. But I do take your actual words into account for generous bonuses and possibly penalties, so as long as you choose your words wisely and use the information you have to yoru advantage and the like, you'll probably have considerably higher chances.

If you give me your idea I can probably give you a rough idea of what your chances are, like I did for Kat and Elliot when they used their skills earlier.

Well I figured maybe the bosses don't care enough to do anything but the other people stuck in town will and those who live here.

Maybe I should just announce to the people directly that we will deal with the monster problem in exchange for a donation from them, then wait and see how much money they put together using barter to help.
I doubt they're overly happy being trapped here or forced to turn around.

It's also why I wanted to speak with the casino boss, open roads both ways is good for business.

I should probably say this, because it's more Harvey's common sense than yours that would do the talking here because he's the one that's lived out in the wasteland all this time - but;

Monsters, raiders and the like are the norm out here in most parts of the wasteland.
If the NCR went and locked down any roads a couple of Giant Radscorpions or Raiders were seen wandering around, you probably wouldn't have gotten so far on this journey.
The Major did imply that you were getting in over your head here.

Yeah I figured, but we need to keep going forward and how do we do that without fixing the problem? They ain't gonna let us go willingly or help us so one way or another we have to deal with. Unless you want to give us a hint for what we're meant to be doing here because so far all we've got is nearby monsters that are to tough, nearby armed prisoners in the same direction as said monsters and then a lot of random stuff thats no use.

Well there are a number of things the party could do here.

Currently the most obvious one would probably be to just do whatever shopping or snooping around you want to do, then rest the night away here, and if nothing of interest turns up, take another route to Vegas.

There's a map in the first post of OOC, though it doesn't show the full route you'd take if you followed the road, the map used in New Vegas should give you a close enough idea of what to expect.

Not really much here for me to buy I don't think.

Btw does speech work for tricking people in card games? For bluffing them into thinking I'm winning.

BTW is not generally spoken. I don't know why but this makes me think that the person [Harvey I believe] is saying "Bee tee Dubs." whenever he does that. I honestly hope his thing with women doesn't turn into something "hilariously" sexist. Anyway I'm enjoying the show so I'm gonna just watch this thread as well.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was imagining whenever I read it.
But for Harvey's sake I was just assuming he was really saying 'By the way' and not 'Bee tee Dubs'.

Also, Ocelot Eff tee Dubs.
