Maxwell and Takoko walk up to the cashier.
Takoko exchanges 50 caps for chips, and Maxwell exchanges 100 of his caps for chips, before you both head off towards the tables in the back.
It's on Maxwell's way there that he notices one of his chips is kind of funny. It's pretty shiny, and it has some tiny writing on it, but he can't really make any of it out. There's a big number or something on it, so even despite its shiny, silver colour, it's pretty different from the rest of the chips.

He leads you to the patients, which there are 5 or 6 of currently, all but one with bullet wounds. The sixth guy doesn't look injured, it just looks like he's sleeping.

Maxwell stands around and takes a bit of time to count the chips he was given... 99 plain ones, and the shiny silver one makes 100.
Takoko quickly counts her chips, coming up to 50, as it should.

Takoko walks up to one of the less crowded Roulette tables.

(The Roulette works pretty much the same as it's shown to in F:NV, so if you want to place specific bets yourself - go ahead.)

((Well not to straight up save their lives. They're in somewhat stable condition, but they're only going to end up dead if you roll really poorly. Otherwise it'll just be "Oh, well, they're not in really in much better condition, but they're still alive!))

((Unless you have anything to say to the Doctors or whatever, we're going to leave your character doing this for a post or two just to let Max, Harvey and Takoko 'catch up', because what they're doing isn't really taking up much time in comparison.))

Take a look through the shops and booths, see what's being sold and where. Especially, try to find some bear traps and wire, a hammer and those looped nails wouldn't be amiss either. Also, see if there's an underbelly to this city, a black market.

You browse the various shops set up around the entrance. The ones of interest you find are a general goods store, a gunsmith's shop, an armourer's shop, and a shop that seems to have been set up by a prospector, selling lots of random odds and ends scavenged from the wasteland.

How would you go about looking for a black market?

Hmmm. Good point. I should get our Speechinator to find it for me and buy the explosives materials I'll need. For now then, Talk to the Prospector.
He's more likely to be willing to deal with a ghoul, after all.
