Japa. What have you done? This is all horrifying. You autoreplaced all the trains. ALL OF THEM. Why you do dis? At least the Aran coal is now +$11k instead of minus $11k and all it took was using the older original engine and not the newer more expensive one. The cars weren't even letting it go past 35mph anyway. And all the hills. And the oil refinery with two bays and 12 trains. It needs oil. Where's the oil? On the main trunk. Which is completely stopped up. The bays were full of refined waiting to load and they never will because oil. FFFFFFFF.

I needed to get that out. So many trains are lost or horrendously inefficient or not moving on the original trunk. We were bleeding to death. We might still be.

PS: These hills. These hills almost killed us last time. One break down or pause because trains are in front and there is no steam. 1mph. $4k and half the hills are not hills anymore. Just spend the money. I'm looking at the one by Thieves Guild Docks. It's three tiles. Just flatten it.

The last I saw of Star Giraffe.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
30 trains needing to be replaced at $300k+ each. Bleeding.
Motherf@#$%&
Oil and coal do not go down the same pipe. Bad Giraffe. NO! Don't eat oil and coal at the same time.

JAPA. WHY YOU STICK OUR NOSE IN OIL?!

It was a great land spot, just needed a bigger trunk with passing, OR transfers. I'm a fan of transfers. I've seen a passing mainline but now can't find where. Something kind of like this but it's 2 main one ways with a single spaced gap between them as a set. Mirror it for the other direction of traffic.

I love that last image. It wasn't intentional at all. The shape just popped out at me.

I learned a lot that time. What works and doesn't work so well.

Yeah, same. Keep the hell away from ships, and use pipes with caution.

Anyway. I took out max loan and used the resulting cash to buy loads of trains, so now it's just a matter of time till the company dies, and we can resurrect it.

The ships and pipes were the least of our worries. The long hauls, traffic jams, and 1mph on hills killed us. Just buying trains solves very little. Balancing engines and cars on each and every run set is important. If a car of goods is on flat track all the way and limited to 35mph, a 50mph engine with 2.5 times the upkeep is just wasted money. Ignore the reliability entirely if the run is short. It can get to a depot in a hurry. The low upkeep is so important. That and replacements costing $360k versus $150k. So many trains were getting lost and/or making return trips that were much longer than they needed to be. That and the mines dropping down to basic resource generation when only two long haulers are serving it. They would take the long way, not get serviced, break and stop a dozen trains on the original mainline, which caused all the other mines to lower their production. I watched the original mine go from 500 goods backlogged with every dedicated engine to that short haul be stuck not moving somewhere, to all of them sitting at 0% at the mine with nothing to move. The income chart was a roller coaster. It was awful.

Guess who stayed number one for the longest time? The ship company. It can be done well. We were neck and neck for awhile.

Tekli Transporti, They Who Started With Ships. Still in first :D

Also, the Star Giraffe has died and its now past 1930, so ECS Houses spawned.

I just reinstalled the game, when will the server be running again?
Do I need to download all the mods?

Server is running right now, and the mods can be downloaded automatically more or less when you connect to the server.

Each of these trams gets me between 1k and 7k per year, and are pretty much always full.

But track maintainance is losing me money anyway. :(

Yeah. I'm guessing it's almost impossible to start a company past the 1900's.

There are aircraft that are cheaper than some ships at this point, for reference.

I'm considering running next server map with inflation off, what you guys reckon? (this map had it on, set at 2% interest, still a bit too much)

I really want that one as a "when". I want "grubs", and "virgin woman" to turn into a dragon. and monkey children to suddenly sprout wings. And I want the Dwarven Mutant Academy to only gain their powers upon reaching puberty. I also have a whole host of odd creatures that only make sense if I divide them into children and adults.

Also, tadpoles.
