Humanity had been standing on the brink of war, and extinction, for ten years before nearly every nation agreed to the necessity of the earth being ruled by a single governing body.
Whilst a few governments refused to acknowledge that humanity needed to stand together, they either got toppled by their own people, or were rapidly annexed by the superior forces of the supernation, which was named after the organisation that, ultimately, founded it: The United Nations.
The earth was then cut up into 'sectors' of roughly equal population, and resources were distributed as evenly as possible. Whilst there were flaws with the system, such as bribery, they seemed to have a minimal impact on it. Many predicted that the government would inevitably become tyrannical within a few decades, but that was unable to happen.
Within about five years of all of this, the earth was invaded by an unknown extraterrestrial force. Population centres and military fortifications were levelled by orbital bombardment, and alien forces arrived shortly afterwards. Outnumbered and using weapons that could barely damage the enemy forces, the remaining military forces were forced to retreat. The areas that the military could retreat to began to get smaller and smaller, and the human population began to drop rapidly.
After several months, the situation looked grim.
In one last, desperate bid, the remaining scientists and soldiers managed to capture several aliens, and attempted to create a disease to wipe them off earth.
The scientists managed to extract a disease from one of the aliens. It appeared to be some DNA with a pair of bases not seen on earth, surrounded in a protein coat, much like some earth viruses. With this, the scientists began to create their bioweapon.
The fighting had reached a point where the military would be annihilated within a week, when the scientists finished the bioweapon and, using several modified missiles, distributed it among the aliens. Within a matter of weeks, the remnants of the military were pushing back the aliens.
The scientists were rewarded for their work with an orbital bombardment on the lab they were working on, along with the surrounding area, killing the scientists and destroying the remains of the military.
After several months, the aliens had been nearly completely removed from the earth. The orbiting alien ships had stopped sending out reinforcements, and, soon, began dropping from the sky. This lead to many areas being rendered uninhabitable as heavy metals, radioactive elements and antimatter spilled across the impact areas.
The heavy metals made living there impossible for any extended periods due to the poisoning, the radiation from the radioactive elements killed off any encroaching life in the areas, and the antimatter, when it collided with the land, created giant explosions and large radiation bursts, wiping all existing life in the area. However, due to how scattered humans had become, only a small amount of the population was killed by this.
Several decades have passed since then, and surviving humans have banded together. Old human tech has been salvaged, bringing humanity's technology to that of the early 21st century, and nearly all humans are ruled by three leaders...
This is a three-player game set in the year 2134. You all start on earth, and starting resources will be tripled as a result. Precursors and extra-galactic invaders WILL be on, along with no overhauls (because I cant be arsed dealing with that). Updates will include most of the stuff people do that isn't secretive (so colonising, tech research and the like will be posted).
For research, give me a queue of what you want researching, and update it every so often do you don't get idle research labs. For components, tell me what stuff you want me to stick into it (e.g. size 25 nuclear pulse engine with 50% reduced power), and tell me which components you want on your ship, as I'm not great at ship design.
If there's anything you want to keep secret, pm me about it and I'll try to keep it secret. Some things will, for obvious reasons, be impossible. For example, dumping a fleet around another guy's planet due to sensors.
Conventional start, no ICBM silos
If there's anything you want to ask, go ahead. I have very little doubt I forgot something vital.

A nation that rose from Europe, small parts of western Asia, and northern areas of Africa, this nation has a large diversity in cultures. Anyone who hasn't lived with their government will simply see it as a mess; it is simultaneously run by the smartest individuals and those with enough corporate power. Exactly how long this can remain stable is yet to be seen...
