To be fair guys, I really don't think that major features they're listing this early will show up as dlc. Heck, I enjoyed Tropico 4 plenty and never bought any dlc.

Point is, the DLC is completely useless. Can't say why anybody would bother to buy one.

One of the DLC lets you disable social media to get more productivity. Honestly I would have gone the other way around and have social media off by default and you pay to turn it on and get lower productivity.

But get a random amount of income each year and a plus ten happiness? That'd make a good trade off.

20% lower productivity, but you get some income and a bit of happiness. Would help an island who is well off to begin modernizing

* Iceblaster never played Modern Times, so disregard any contradictions

Why would it give you happiness? There is no good tradeoff for social media. What it could give you is more offers to sell your buildings to private US businesses and/or plaster advertising on every building.

Heh.

It was just a general thought. I mean there is at least one person who gets happy from clicking cows to get more cows so he can click those cows to get MORE cows

Well, we certainly know trying to repress social media is a good way to make people unhappy. See: Turkey.

Mind you by the time you can disable social media... you really don't need to.

Modern times breaks the game's difficulty curve over its knees.

Also don't really expect good DLC for Tropico 5...

4 ONLY had Modern times as good DLC and even that is questionable (I havn't beat it yet... so far so good though), and what is there are usually "cheat items". What do I mean by that?
1) A Army base that requires no generals and houses more soldiers
2) A dock that bypasses blockades (In all fairness... You had to try to piss people off to get a blockade)
3) A factory that uses no resources, is cheap, and lets you build faster.

Tropico has the sort of DLC I use as examples of bad DLC. In Fairness some of these items are meant to have downsides, the cement factory doesn't make that much income, while the bunker costs a bit of cash, and the Plantation really is just a more heavily populated farm. So it no where NEAR as bad as SimCity's DLC, and honestly I can see people legitimately liking the DLC... I just don't think the DLC is golden.

yeah. the devs selling cheats sure pushed me away from t4 a bit.
also, maby im just to awsome because i am an old t1 vet, but the game felt to easy even without these "dlc"
i hope t5 will be a fun game. i fear it will be to polished and to easy.
ah well. i am a negative nanny. lets hope for the best.

In many ways it was too easy.

I was never able to get blockades, riots, rebels, uprisings without outright going out of my way to ensure they happen. Heck I once set out to intentionally try to make the US kill me and still failed.

Then again I never attempted to be a vicious dictator. From what I understand that is the other way to play the game...

5 being too easy could happen if they go the modern times route of making all the buildings super powered over time.

Yeah I also have that problem at times..
Even if I try to be a ruthless dictator, I always try to please everyone.
Because why do thing the hard way when making people happy is rather easy?
